The Shack Cafe Tai Wai
After the spacious house in Tai Wai, another independent coffee shop has opened! 🏡😍 Quietly nestled in a corner of Tianxin Village, it has actually been open for a week now. 🥳🎊
Although it's in the neighborhood and I pass by here often, it still took some time to find. 👀 On the map, it's near Platform, but I had to circle around twice before I found it. 📍 If you're coming from Tai Wai MTR Station, 🚇 after crossing the octopus bridge, walk to the Tianxin Village archway opposite Mingcheng, then just walk straight ahead. 🚶🏻♂️ (If you take a right at the fork, you'll end up at Dear Bakery 🏠.)
For now, the shop only offers simple pastries, croffles, salads, and wraps 📋. I tried the pistachio-filled croissant 🥐. It's not too sweet, and the almond flakes on top add a nice nutty aroma. 😌
The North African baked eggs were a bit runnier compared to the usual, offering a different texture. 🥘 The Norwegian roll is a refreshing choice with smoked salmon and avocado wrap. 🫔
The coffee art could use some improvement, but the taste was good ☕️👍🏻. The Espresso Coco is a large cup, perfect for sipping on the go to cool down. 🥥🥤

Porker Cafe Singapore
Porker moved from the basement of Wellington Street to the big slope of Colin Street🏘
I passed by the store countless times, but it took me four months to try the fried pork chop🍘🐖
Order the full house set and aged pork rib eye set🍱🍱
You can try all four types of aged pork sirloin, pork fillet, rib eye and cheese pork patty🤤
I want to spin around and die after taking one bite😍
The fried pork chops in the restaurants I have eaten recently are better😋
Of course, this is a real fried pork chop specialty store lol😂
Reminds me of the Tonzumi Shokudo we had an impromptu date at in Roppongi🥹🎌

So Bar Restaurant & Bar Hongkong
Last month, I tried Su Ma in Tsim Sha Tsui 🏠, and this time I came to try So Bar right in front of it 😬, from sunrise to sunset ☀️🌙.
The indoor area has sofa seating 🛋, while the semi-outdoor area features high wooden tables and chairs 🪑. The red brick walls, arched windows, and ceiling fans create a Moroccan atmosphere 🪟.
The bar offers a variety of cocktails 📋. Among the six signature cocktails, I chose Ciao and Breath of Joy 🍸🍹. The former is Roku Gin with coriander, egg white, and lemon 🍶🌿🥚🍋. The coriander flavor is strong and very refreshing 😍. The latter is whiskey with passion fruit, wild ginger, lavender, lemon, and red wine 🥃🍷. It’s served in a Mount Fuji glass with a light at the bottom 🗻, which is very Instagrammable and even turns into a table lamp after dark 🤳🏻😂.
The soft-shell crab risotto features "Kapitan," which is actually curry 🥘. A huge soft-shell crab covers the risotto 🦀. It was my first time trying curry-flavored risotto, and it was really spicy 🌶👍🏻. The popcorn chicken was just typical fried chicken pieces 🍗😋.
There’s also a cocktail called Durian Kiss that I really want to try 🤭. I’m planning to bring some durian lovers with me next time to try both cocktails together 🤓.

Melrose Coffee Hongkong
Walking through the large circular glass window, I entered the store 🪟. The narrow and long space has a bar counter on the left and seating on the right 🧐. An arched wooden frame extends from the wall to the ceiling, guiding the eye 👀. The floor is decorated with yellow and white diamond-patterned tiles and speckled gray-white terrazzo 🔶🔲, complemented by wooden tables and stools, creating a warm and sunny California vibe 🌅.
The croffle churros 🥐🧇 are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They’re actually just croissants cut into strips 🔪, dipped in 75% dark chocolate sauce 🍫. I was hoping for real churros 😯.
The Popover pancake 🥞 is like a Dutch baby that’s baked without the iron skillet 🍳. It’s freshly baked and quite tasty 🤤.

Zendo Cafe Hongkong
A new stand-alone gallery coffee shop in Central🏢
Although the building is five stories high, it has an elevator so you don’t have to walk up the stairs🚶🏻♂️
The first two floors are all wooden with a natural feel🪵
Unfortunately I came a little too late😢
Missed the cinema on the first floor showing my brother’s movie🎥
Also came a little early🥲
The gallery above was not open yet so I couldn’t see MC Ren’s exhibition🖼
It was also the first day for the barista👩🏻🍳
Tried the flat white made with UCR’s Jumbo Jet beans☕️
It’s pretty good with a floral flavor today💐
I’ll come back to see the exhibition next time🤓

Little Break Coffee And Kitchen
I go out to the coffee shop as soon as I have a holiday🏠
It’s a long-awaited little break to stay at home during the typhoon☕️
The exterior wall of D2 Place is not visible from the entrance during the renovation🏢
The coffee shop is designed with wooden floors and marble tables🪑
The outdoor seats have good lighting but are a bit too close to the road and the viaduct☀️
Many neighbors are already eating breakfast when I arrived in the morning🍽
The bagels and coffee are good🥯☕️
I know every Taiwanese song played in the store🎵🎶
A very comfortable place for me time🤓

Old Fung Tea House
On a typhoon day, I especially miss this sunny breakfast ☀️🥹. At 8 AM, instead of having coffee, I ended up having dim sum with just a pot of tea and two pieces 😮☕️🥢. The customers have shifted from a group of trendy youngsters to elderly friends 👵🏻🧓🏻👴🏻.
The popularity of Lau Fong’s branch in Tsuen Wan remains strong 🏠. There were already more than ten people waiting outside before the shop even opened 🚶🏻♀️🚶🏻🚶🏻♂️. The décor is inspired by the old public housing hawker stalls from back in the day 👀.
The tableware used is also nostalgic, with chicken-patterned bowls and chopsticks 🍚🥢.
I came here to try the traditional thousand-layer cake 🍰. This childhood favorite traditional dim sum is really becoming rare to find 🥲. Nowadays, tea houses mainly focus on IGable black-gold salted egg custard buns 🍘🤥. But honestly, the thousand-layer cake is delicious too, lol 😋.
Other handmade dim sums are also very good and served hot enough 👍🏻. You can tell the difference from those made in mass-production chain factories and then just heated up in stores 💪🏻. I need to pick a day to challenge myself and try the Yuen Long flagship store 🤓.

Coffee Slave Hongkong
The overall design and layout have remained mostly unchanged 🧐. Both sides have full floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light ☀️. From the bar counter, you can casually watch the pedestrians and cars outside, which is quite relaxing 🚶🏻♂️🚗. There’s also the large blackboard now with the bold message "見字飲啡" (Drink Coffee upon Seeing This) 👨🏻🏫.
Perhaps there's a strong coffee demand in Tsuen Wan ☕️, as the shop was filled with people not long after opening at 12:00 😮. One of the nice features here is the mobile self-order service 📱, so you don’t have to wait. There’s also a "call up" function, meaning you don’t need to remind the staff to bring your coffee with your food 👍🏻.
I tried the Blue Mussel Cream Risotto 🥘. The flavor was good, but there were quite a few black olives that I didn’t really like 🤥.
The Thousand Island Chicken Burger with fries 🍔 was a pleasant surprise, as I love Thousand Island sauce on pizza, and it worked well in the burger too 🤤. The fries were fried to a golden crisp, yet still had a nice bite 🥔.

Miss Marble Cake & Coffee
Has opened a small shop in Tsim Sha Tsui 🏠. The simple wooden decor and two tables 🪑 make it a cozy spot for both new and old customers to enjoy desserts, coffee, and take a break 😌. In the evening, the place is quiet enough to have the entire shop to yourself 🤓. Occasionally, one or two customers come to pick up their pre-ordered cakes 🎂, and every one of them is beautifully made with great care 😍.
The desserts currently offered include toast, cakes, and cookies 🥪🍰🍪📋, all freshly made to order, so be prepared to wait a bit 👨🏻🍳.
The Caramel Pudding Toast 🍮🍞: From the name, you might expect it to be a hard and crispy toast 🤔, but it’s actually soft bread with only the caramel on top turned into crispy flakes 🤥.
Strawberry Cheesecake in a Can 🍓🥫: A few years ago, I had a similar canned cake in Taichung 🙃, and now, eating it again brings back some memories 🥺💭. The cake is very fluffy, and the strawberries are both sliced and cut into small pieces 🍴. The small pieces of strawberry are even chilled, giving it a refreshing double texture 👍🏻. The price is a bit on the higher side, so it's more of a try-it-out option 💸.
