THE OLD SUMMER PALACE!
The Old Summer Palace, also known as Yuanming Yuan, was an imperial garden complex in Beijing that was built in the 18th century. It was looted and burned down by foreign armies during the Second Opium War in 1860 and remains in ruins to this day.
During my visit here I got to learn a lot about Chinese cultural heritage and how the habitants of the palace used to live before the foreign armies arrived, It was once a magnificent complex with numerous palaces, gardens, lakes, and pavilions that showcased the finest examples of Chinese art and architecture.

The old streets of Shanghai
There are so many beautiful, old streets in Shanghai with authentic, ancient buildings. On every street you can try amazing Chinese food and of course buy souvenirs. Everything is of course also worth seeing at night with all the lights around the buildings and rich night life that Shanghai offers. Many streets don't open shops very early in the morning so it's worth coming at lunch time and not earlier or just at dinner time. Definitely worth discovering.

A slice of the Venice of the East 🛶🌿✨
Pingjiang Road, 平江路 is one of the best preserved historical street in Suzhou, dating back to the South Song Dynasty. With water canals, bridges, old architecture and cobbled pathways, it retained the characteristics of the classical Jiangnan water village style. In 2005, the street received the Asia Pacific Heritage Award by UNESCO for Cultural Heritage Conservation. Pingjiang Road is pedestrian and narrow, but yet such a charming place to visit in the heart of old Suzhou!
What to do at Pingjiang Road 👇🏼
➡️ Walk along the road and appreciate the beauty of old Chinese architecture and water canals.
➡️ Go on a boat ride 🛶 I found it lovely that the oarsman also sings traditional songs whilst rowing the boat for tourists 🕊
➡️ Try the local cuisine! There are a lot of restaurants around with delish Suzhounese dishes 🍽 as well as local snacks.
➡️ Lots of shops for souvenirs and silk products! Jiangsu province is well-known for its silk production. During Ming and Qing dynasties, high quality products were crafted by silk weavers in Suzhou for royal families. You’ll definitely spot so many of the shops there selling silk dresses, scarfs… etc
➡️ Perfect place to capture glimpses of old China on 📸
How to go 👉🏼 Take metro to Lindun Lu, 临顿路or Xiangmen 相门 🚇 station (both on line 1). It’s located between these stations and takes about 10 mins by walk to reach from either.

Yu Garden: Old Soul in the New 🌿⛲️
Yu Garden, commonly known as Yuyuan is a popular tourist spot in Shanghai. While the environment around is uber commercialised with restaurants, foodcourts, souvenir shops and big chains like Starbucks, KFC etc.. many people overlook its most scenic and artistic part requiring an entrance ticket.
The garden is believed to have been built more than 400 years ago during the Ming Dynasty as a private property of the Pan family. It’s classical architecture is typical to its period. Every corner embodies beauty with a relaxed atmosphere surrounded by trees, flowers, bamboo and bonsaï plants 🪴 The garden feels brisk with ponds of fish.
Entrance 🎟 ➡️ 40¥
How to go ➡️ Yu Garden, 预园 is a 🚇 station on line 10 & 14. The entrance is close to the zigzag bridge which is the central part where most people flock for pictures.

Old City of Chiang Mai, Thailand
Chiang Mai Ancient City is old town right of the middle of Chiang Mai. From here many many years ago started the history of Chiang Mai. For now this is the best tourist attraction in the town. During a week you can find some night markets outside the walls. #chiangmai #oldarchitecture #thailandtravel
Amazing Dali
Dali is a perfect destination for summer.
The weather is so perfect but still, put on your sunblock for skin protection. You have lots to see in this place. They have the famous Erhai lake which is one of ghe seven biggest fresh water lakes in China. We also visited the 3 pagodas. We also went to Xizhou, and joined the Three-course Tea Ceremony, it is most popular among Bai people which is served for distinguished guests. They even invited the guests to dance with them. We had a local Tie Dye Workshop in Zhoucheng. We learned and made one by ourselves using natural dying solution (indigo leaves, flowers, tree barks).
Our hotel was located in the old town. Cars are not allowed to enter the area so we called the hotel to pick up our luggages using toktok vehicle.
At night, you can walk around the old town and try different food. Also, don’t miss to try Pu’er tea. It’s one of the best teas in China.

BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY ANGLE
The Rome tourist attraction that I enjoyed the most was without a doubt the Colosseum. It is truly breathtaking, amazing, and enormous.
The Roman Colosseum, sometimes called the Flavian Amphitheatre, is one of the most outstanding structures in the city. Over 6 million people visit it annually.
Even though it is now in ruins, the Roman Coliseum never ceases to astound us with its immense size and beauty, which is why it has been regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World since 2007.
The Roman Colosseum has come to represent Rome around the world and has developed over time into a historical and archaeological gem that can serve as a reminder of the Roman Empire's grandeur.

THE ANCIENT COLOSSEUM
Rome's most iconic landmark is the Colosseum. It is a massive building with approximately two thousand years of history that will transport you back in time to learn about Roman Empire life.
The Colosseum was built starting in the year 72 under Vespasian's empire and was completed in the year 80 under Titus' control. The Colosseum was the largest Roman amphitheater when it was finished, with dimensions of 188 meters in length, 156 meters in width, and 57 meters in height.
The Flavian Amphitheatre, formerly known as the Roman Colosseum, was able to accommodate more than 50,000 spectators under the Roman Empire, when the slogan was "Bread and Circuses." The Roman populace was entertained for years by displays of exotic animals, executions of prisoners, recreations of battles, and gladiator contests.
Over 500 years passed while the Colosseum was in use. The sixth century saw the celebration of the last games known to history.

Dali old town
Getting There - I took a DiDi from Dali railway station. It took about 30mins or so. You can also easily do a day trip from Kunming. The train ride is a little over one hour so it’s very convenient. I do suggest you stay for a night or two but a day trip is also possible!
Attractions - Ancient and historic buildings are one of the highlights in Dali Old Town. I suggest you just walk around and take in the beauty and great atmosphere of the old town!
Hotels - I stayed at T-Dali in the old town. I strongly recommend this hotel. Although I was traveling with the PSB receipt, check-in was very quick and easy!
Food & Restaurants - There are TONS of restaurants and cafes! I had lunch at a mostly plant based restaurant and it was delicious. (Check my other post about that restaurant- Worth a try)!
Shopping - Many shops where you can buy souvenirs and little snacks. There is a Yunnan coffee store that is very amazing!

Suzhou at night! (Panmen scenic area)
I was fortunate enough to experience this wonderful location at night and it was a really beautiful experience.
The name of this location is called the Panmen scenic area, in the southwest of Suzhou. One huge plus is that it’s not too far away from the center of Suzhou, so it won’t take too long to arrive at this wonderful location from most places.
I visited this place for the purpose of photography and for that reason, I could not miss the opportunity to capture the beautiful scenes in the night time.
I arrived around sunset so I was able to walk around and find some amazing spots for photos and enjoy the serene atmosphere, and as the sun started to set, boom! the lights come on, and this place becomes a whole new experience! I hope you enjoy!

Dublin is a must on your bucket list!
Getting There - Dublin airport is a hub, so you’ll easily find a cheap flight from many countries. To arrive from the airport into town? there’s plenty of buses or taxi. The Dublin express is probably the fastest as it goes through the tunnel, you’ll be in the city centre in only 30 minutes (buy the ticket online as it’s cheaper).
Once in the city centre, you can just go anywhere by walking. The world is at your feet.
Attractions - There’s plenty to do in Dublin. I personally suggest to go to EPIC (The Irish Emigration Museum), it’s really a fantastic experience, especially if you have Irish ancestors. You’ll discover that what it means to be Irish expands far beyond the borders of Ireland through the stories of Irish emigrants who became scientists, politicians, poets, artists and even outlaws all over the world.
Trinity college and The Book of Kells is another great experience.
If you have time go the National Gallery of Ireland. It’s free, open 7days a week and has many great paintings.
Hotels - There’s many nice hotels in Dublin, but if you value your sleep don’t choose one in the Temple bar area.
Food & Restaurants - The restaurant and cafe scene has really stepped up in Dublin. Walk around the city centre, avoid the tourists’ traps and you’ll be fine.
Shopping - Grafton street is one of the areas where you can start your shopping. Just make sure you have enough room in your luggage. 😂

Castillo Sohail Park in Fuengirola
Castillo Sohail (Sohail Castle) is an old fortification build already year 965 AD by Emir Abd-ar-Rahman III to help in coastal defence. The castle itself is has been renovated by the town of Fuengirola to make it a suitable place for concerts and other festivals. It’s practically an outdoor arena.
The park around the castle is a suitable place for picnic or a little walk, jogging or just sitting and enjoying the day. There are also excavated stone ruins in the western base of the hill which date back to Roman Empire, year 300 BC. If you forget to take your own picnic food with you, there’s a bar just on the foot of the hill near the bridge crossing Rio de Fuengirola (in the last picrure).
I recommend you to access the park using the bridge by walking to the end of the Passo Maritimo Rey de España until it turns away from the beach and the walking street towards the castle can be accessed from the turning point.

Bagno Vignoni - Tuscany on the Road 🚗
It's a gem in a breathtaking landscape, in the heart or Val d'Orcia natural park.
The main road will lead you towards the center where instead of an usual main square, you'll have a large pool, the iconic rectangular tub source of natural thermal water, called Piazza delle Sorgenti (Springs' Square).
And just below the tiny center you'll be able to reach Parco dei Mulini, built in the 12th century, still actively feeding the numerous spa facilities surrounding the town and where you can freely treat yourself in the bath dug.

Gramercy Park, Manhattan, New York
Gramercy Park was designed to house fashionable families. The Roosevelts lived there for decades and enjoyed the area’s exclusive Gramercy Park. Over the years it’s been home to many writers, politicians, artists, and students who enjoy its central location and peaceful atmosphere
Gramercy can feel like a secluded, private neighborhood even though it’s located in central Manhattan.
The neighborhood is reminiscent of a sprawling, well-groomed park with its clean streets and carefully cultivated greenery.
Large and spacious brownstones are known as being some of the prettiest in the city. Hanging plants and bushes adorn most stoops.
Day-to-day life in Gramercy is laid-back. With few tourist attractions, the neighborhood is filled with residents looking for a place to relax with privacy.

Chengdu: More Than Pandas
Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province and well worth a visit if you’re in China for any period of time. So, with that in mind, here’s a quick guide to Chengdu.
Wander through the bamboo-lined temple of Wuhou Shrine. 10/10 go early morning to get this place to yourself.
You can also find some peace and quiet at Tazishan Park on the outskirts - along with this tree-lined pagoda. While not the biggest ace in terms of things to do, if you’re in China for a while - having a place to just sit & have a coffee outside is a great save.
If tea and spending a morning strolling with the locals is more your thing then head to People’s Park. With a big lake, it’s a great place to sit on the banks and order significant amounts of tea watching. the world move around you ☕️

Little Paris in New York
As New York City’s French residents — some 60,000 strong — get ready to celebrate Bastille Day on July 14, a small but intense coterie of downtown New Yorkers is pushing for the designation of a new neighborhood, “Little Paris.” The heart of their effort is Centre Street, appropriately spelled the French way, between Broome and Grand Streets. One block to the west is Lafayette Street, named after the most famous Frenchman to fight in the American Revolution.
This valiant struggle — storming Community Board 2 with a citizen petition — is headquartered at Coucou French Classes. Coucou founders Léa and Marianne Perret point out that what New Yorkers now call Soho was in the late 1800s a flourishing quartier français.
Coucou itself is located across the street from the old Police Headquarters Building at 240 Centre Street. Opened in 1909, the Beaux Arts headquarters was inspired, according to the Perrets, by “the famous Paris City Hall, l’Hôtel de Ville.” Indeed, the original 1978 write-up of the building for the Landmarks Preservation Commission notes that it is sited “like the traditional French Hôtel de Ville within a confined urban space.” Today it presides regally over a street of French enterprises.
