#familytrips2024 Visiting Beijing in mid May is a best period to enjoy the vibrant floral that blooms everywhere around the city. My mum and aunty were extremely excited everytime they see the huge roses along the streets. So I decided to bring them to Ritan Park (日坛), which means Temple of the Sun in Chinese. This is where the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasty performed sacrifices to the sun deity. The park was said to be constructed in 1530 during the Ming Dynasty. The Central feature of the park is the Altar of the Sun. The altar is surrounded by pine trees and traditional Chinese architecture, enhancing it's historical ambience. The park is about 20 hectares, and is meticulously landscaped with variety of flora, including ancient pine trees, ornamental flowers and seasonal blooms. Strolling around you will walk through the gardens, leading to tranquil ponds, rockeries and pavilions. Every part in the park especially the main pond is a photographic. Ritan Park attracts both locals and tourists seeking for leisure and recreation. You'll find groups practising tai chi, dancing, singing, or exercising, reflecting the park's role as a community hub. And there is also a huge children playground! This is really interesting. While my mum and aunty immersed themselves into the garden of huge roses, I walk around to explore more about the park. There is also a Fishing Area, Rock Climbing activities and Open-Air Tea Houses. The park is very well maintained. The locals says that Ritan Park often hosts cultural events and festivals, particularly during the Chinese New Year and other traditional holidays. Many performances are organised such as lantarn displays, and various cultural activities that offer a deeper understanding of Chinese traditions and community spirit. Ritan Park is located at Ritan North Road of Chaoyang District Beijing. It opens everyday from as early as 6am-9pm. There is no admission fee to enter the park. Getting there is not difficult as there are several bus routes servicing the area and also subway station nearby. Ritan Park is definitely worth the visit if you are in Beijing. #familytrips2024 I have been to Mutianyu Great Wall before, and this year I am fortunate enough to have a chance to visit another part of this gorgeous construction with my family. We got invited to joined a group tour to the Lakeside Great Wall. The journey was about 2 hours drive from China World Trade Center Beijing. We arrived Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall around 9.30am. The view when we get nearer was breathtaking, with colourful flowers blooming everywhere. Once arrived, we were ushered to a tunnel and walk to the jetty for a short 5mins boat ride. The beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains and floral make the whole ride feel so graceful and magical. We crossed wooden bridges, hilly path, rainbow stride walkway, botanical gardens, witnessing a 800 year old ancient tree, what else can we ask for for such enjoyment. We also come across a hanging glass bridge before hiking up the Great Wall. The hike on this path is not too challenging but you still need some stamina and physical strength. The beautiful view and cool air helps to distract you from the exhaustion. It could be a bit tiring for those who don't exercise regularly but the experience along the way is definitely worth it. #familytrips2024 I always love visiting old Buddhist temples, admiring the vibes, the sense of hope, the ancient artwork and especially the building's architecture. My trip to Beijing this summer with my family gave me an opportunity to visit an old Buddhist Temple called the Yonghe Temple (雍和宫 Palace of Peace and Harmony), also well known as Yonghe Lamasery. According to the history, this temple was built and opened in 1694. It was said that the temple was previously used as the residence of Emperor Yongzheng when he was a prince. It is considered the largest and most perfectly preserved Lamasery in China. Yonghe Temple is now opened for public as a temple and monastery for the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. Hence you can notice the building architecture and artwork resembles a combination of Han Chinese and Tibetan styles. Mind you, it is a huge area to walk and explore around. There are 5 main halls separated by courtyards. Each hall houses different Buddha statues for worshippers to pray. We noticed there are worshippers that comes from around the world. The admission ticket is about ¥25 per person which includes a bunch of joss sticks. It is advisable to purchase the ticket online in advance. You may visit and purchase from their official website thru WeChat. It is not difficult to get to this temple as it is located at the most busiest street of Yonghegong Dajie in Beijing Dongcheng District. After savouring street foods for many days, we decided to dine in a air-conditioning area, so we went to a mall nearby. As we walked along the dining level, we were attracted by a funny but cute frog ribbit sound. The sound came from a restaurant that only serve frogs dishes. The restaurant seems to attract many youngster and young families. We ordered their signature sizzling chili frog, and I have to say it taste real good. The dish was cooked together with some vegetables and French fries. The taste and sauce goes perfectly with a bowl of white rice. #deliciousfood #foodie #yolobeliever #周走走_2728

This cafe have many branches and we went to the one located in SS2 of Petaling Jaya. What attracted us there was the nostalgic 80s-90s songs played when we walked by. The interior is designed to look alike HK cafes. They have wide range of menus for customers to choose. Many youngster come here for catch up and also birthday celebrations. This is our most look forward activities in Nepal ~ trekking the Annapurna Circuit. Our aim is to reach Poon Hill. Everyone is so excited though deep inside we were worried about our stamina. It was just a 4D3N hikes, not too ambitious. Our driver dropped us at Nayapalli point and we get ourselves ready for the challenges ahead. As we trek along the Himalayan mountains, we passed through many villages where we get to witness the daily life of the people living there. We visited the little school where the children goes, the types of vegetables the villagers grows, the local "transportation" which are the donkeys and horses, the crystal clear streams that flows along the mountains, the padi terrace and rapeseed flowers plantation. We walked an average 8-9 hours a day, forgetting about the miles and numbers of valleys we went through. It was both challenging and exciting, as it test us physically and mentally. Lucky for me I brought along a earphone and play songs and sing along whenever I start to feel exhausted, this helps to distract me from the tiredness and boost my mental strength. One of the most challenging path was where it started to snow, and the trek became slippery. Some hikers urged us to turn back, but our guide insisted that we should move ahead and of course we listened to guide. The route was tough and it took us about 2 hours to went through the whole icy trek to get to little rest house. I slipped a lot along the way and get bruises all over but I am glad to have experienced that. The temperature was so cold that our mineral water froze the next morning. We woke up to the sounds of chanting from the nearby monastery and the sunrise that shines thru the top of the snow mountain that make it looks like a golden peak. The scenery is so breathtaking and the feeling is so majestic and holistic. We continue the journey again. We stopped for a short break, taking opportunity to take as much photos as possible of the spectacular sceneries and landscape has to offer. We chit chat, gossip and joke as we hike, it was a wonderful bonding time. They say "Once a year, go somewhere you have never ben before", and so, we decided to travel Nepal. We took opportunity of the Chinese New Year long holiday. It was kinda culture shock for us when we arrived Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Everything seems to be not so systematic, locals keep following you around in the airport asking if you need help on the luggages, the streets are so dusty, children approaching cars when we stop at the traffic, and suddenly I felt home-sicked haha. But the journey just began! After we met our tour guide and checked in our hotel, we walked around dinner. We were told not to wander around too late at night, so we dare not wander too far from our hotel. As a Malaysian, we were kinda amused that there are actually no language barrier as most of the Nepalese worked in Malaysia before and they speak fluent Malaysian languages, and even some Chinese dialects. This makes us feels back home. Despite the messy streets and shops, it is not difficult to find foods in Kathmandu, there are plenty of choices from western to Japanese, Korean and of course not missing our Malaysian food! We spent 3 days exploring Kathmandu before heading to Pokhara. Kathmandu is a city full of cultures, and as we explore more, we began to fall in love with Nepal. As the town sprawled over the valley and surrounded by the majestic Himalayan mountains, the scenery is just incredibly breathtaking. One of my favourite stopover is Durbar Square, which was built in 1627. It was like one just step into the ancient town of few hundred years ago. It is really great the ancient buildings, temples and stupas are still well maintained. Known as Malaysia own "Mirror of the Sky", this unique natural wonder creates stunning reflections during low tide, turning the ocean surface into a giant mirror. As our boat approached the sandbank, we were amazed by the flawless reflections of the clouds and sky, making it feel like we were walking on air. The opportunity for creative photography was endless. The perfect mirrored surface made it possible to capture surreal and imaginative shots, whether you wanted to appear as though you're floating in the sky or holding the clouds in your hands. It's a photographer's paradise. Aside from the mesmerising visuals, the boat ride itself was enjoyable, with beautiful views of the coastline. Visiting Sky Mirror is an unforgettable adventure, blending nature's beauty with fun and creativity! However, you need advance planing to get here, as this unique spot only emerges for a few days every month,and only few hours per day. Hence, punctuality is important to get into this mystical site. The 30mins boat ride was about RM60/person inclusive of simple snacks. You have about two to two and a half hours in the island to take as many pictures as you can. Note: 1. Do wear bright colors for the best pictures. 2. Remember to constantly apply your sunscreen from time to time. 3. Drink a lot of water... Psst..an icy cold Coke will taste like heaven under the weather 🤭 Well, this beautiful hidden gem is definitely worth a visit with your family or friends!
