Astra Museum Of Traditional Folk Civilisation 🗺️
#folkactivities
I just had the most incredible experience visiting the ASTRA Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization in Sibiu, Romania! 🌍 If you’re into history, culture, or just enjoy being outdoors, this place is a must-see. The museum is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe, and it’s like stepping back in time to explore Romania’s rural past.
The entrance fee was around 25 RON (€5), which is a steal considering how much there is to see. The museum covers over 200 hectares, so be prepared to do a lot of walking. 🚶♂️ You’ll find traditional wooden houses, watermills, and even churches, all preserved to showcase different regions and periods of Romanian history. Each exhibit is so detailed, I felt like I was walking through a real village. The interactive displays and live demonstrations, like blacksmithing and weaving, really bring the past to life.
What’s great is that the museum is located in the Dumbrava Sibiului Natural Park, so the scenery is just as beautiful as the exhibits. 🌳 I spent a good few hours wandering around, and it’s easy to lose track of time here. If you’re visiting with kids, they’ll love the boat rides on the lake in the middle of the park.
Nearby, you can also visit Sibiu’s historic city center, which is just a short drive away. After spending the day at the museum, I’d recommend heading back into town for a coffee in one of the cozy cafes in Piața Mare.
Whether you’re a history buff or just looking for a peaceful day out in nature, ASTRA Museum is definitely worth the visit. I can’t recommend it enough! 👍

The beautiful city of Sibiu 🔆
#photolocation
My trip to Sibiu, Romania, was a delightful experience full of charm and history! 🏰 This picturesque city, nestled in Transylvania, is a real gem. I started my visit in the Old Town, where the colorful buildings and cobblestone streets set a fairytale scene. The entrance to the Brukenthal National Museum, located in a stunning baroque palace, was around 15 RON, and it was well worth it for the impressive art collection and historical exhibits. 🎨
I also wandered around the Great Square (Piața Mare), which was lively and filled with cafes and shops. The Council Tower provided a fantastic view of the city—climbing up was a bit of a workout but absolutely rewarding! 🏛️ I took a leisurely stroll along the Bridge of Lies, a charming spot with local legends and a perfect photo op.
Nearby, the Astra Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization was another highlight. The entrance fee was about 20 RON, and the open-air museum showcased traditional Romanian village life with authentic houses and crafts. 🏡
Sibiu’s blend of medieval architecture, vibrant culture, and scenic beauty made it a memorable stop. Whether you're into history, architecture, or just soaking in the local atmosphere, Sibiu has something for everyone. 🌟 #trip #Sibiu #Transylvania #BrukenthalMuseum #PiațaMare #AstraMuseum
