a unesco sacred city in Sri-Lanka
this splendid complex has been hidden in the jungles for many years before to be discovered…it was abandon due to an invasion in 1017.
Was the political and religious capital of SriLanka for more than 1400 years.
The center of the sacred city is a Buddha’s fig tree planted in 3 BC, king Vijayan is the one that designed the city.

Phnom Penh city is the capital of Kingdom of Cambodia.
A very interesting place where you see the mix between the old area with markets, ancient buildings, narrow lanes and shops, together with the a French styles architecture of the colonial area where are located government buildings.
The Royal Palace is a must place to visit.

the fairground is located in Rho city very near Milan city, in Italy, and is the place where thousands of people from all over the world are gathering to attend the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, a special furniture exhibition design oriented, that takes place every year on April.
Exhibitors are of course Italian companies and designers, as well European.

unesco world heritage mountains
the Dolomites in Italy are parts of the Alps and from 2009 are unesco world heritage site. the mountain range is in the north of the country spanning from east to west through 3 provinces (Trentino, Belluno and South Tyrol). It a great place to visit all year around, I have been there since I was little visiting the Dolomites from different location and I always had wonderful experience.

Macao is a special administrative region of the people’s republic of China, founded by the Portuguese in the 16th century when the traders settled here and administered the colony till 1999.

San Francisco in California USA is one of the most comfortable city for living in the States, with its beautiful mix of architecture styles, the up and down rolling hills, the famous cable car driven manually, the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, etc.
Founded by the Spanish in 1776 got its name from a mission named after Saint Francis of Assisi, did grow very fast thanks to the gold rush period to become the largest city in the west coast.

world’s biggest settlement on stilts
Kampong Ayer water village is located in Brunei Darussalam country’s capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
There are around 4000 buildings, including houses, schools, hospitals, mosques and markets.
About 30000 people living here, many of them are fishermen.
It has a long history: more than a thousand years!
A wood bridge connect the buildings.

the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque is located in Brunei Darussalam country’s capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
Islam is the religion of around 2/3 of the country and this is the place to pray Allah.
The architecture is magnificent! Marble imported from Italy, crystal chandeliers from England, etc etc…and even pure gold dome.

Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital city of a small country called Brunei Darussalam, located on the northern coast of the island of Borneo.
Is a rich country thanks to oil and gas.
Center of a big empire in the 16th century, lost power during the colonialism time and gained independence only in 1984.
The capital has a population of less than 100000 people.

the Gothic Masterpiece of Cologne Cathedral
Cologne Cathedral in Germany is built in gothic style and is now a unesco world heritage site.
Ita construction took place along seven centuries, between 1248 and 1880.
Is an important symbol of Christianity and also a masterpiece of this specific architectural style called Gothic.
The church was one of the most important pilgrims destination in Europe.

Asaro tribe Village in Papua New Guinea
during my exploration of Papua New Guinea in occasion of the independence celebration of the country, I had the opportunity to visit this very remote village of the Asaro tribe.
It is located near Goroka town, and is completed isolated in the mountains, where people living with their families raising animals and farming.
Lovely people.

In Southwestern Pacific Ocean, northeast of Australia, there is a town called Honiara that was developed from the World War II from the site of US military base.
Now is the capital of Solomon Islands, an archipelago of about 1000 islands that is said to be inhabited from 2000 BC and only explored by the Spanish in 1568, finally independent in 1978.

spectacular vulcano eruption Vanuatu
Yasur Vulcano is an active vulcano located in Tanna Island in Vanuatu Republic, southwest Pacific Ocean.
It is one of the most accessible in the world, in fact you can hike uphill till the caldera and admire the spectacular and persistent Strombolian activity.
It has regular explosions, sometimes small, sometimes violent.
It is said that the activity continued for he past 800 years!

the island of the film about Vanuatu tribes
Tanna Island is located in the southwest Pacific and belong to the Vanuatu Republic.
Explored by James Cook in 1774, the small island is around 45 by 25 km wide and is covered by tropical forest mostly.
There is an active vulcano that you can explore.
A movie inspired by a real story happened in Vanuatu was made where the entire cast was non-professional actors.

located on Mele Bay, Port Vila town is the commercial center of the island of Vanuatu, in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.
It has a multinational population with locals, Chinese, Vietnamese, French and British.
It is a very active town with an airport, a big commercial port, hotels and casinos, university, and a very interesting local market.

Foguang Temple
Located inside the Tianzhushan Scenic Area, in a very quiet and peaceful scenery in the forest, next to one of the hiking route up to Tianzhushan. Next to the temple there is the Mazu Cave, where Mazu Daoyi, a monk of Tang Dynasty sat in meditation. The temple was built by the villagers near the cave and called it Mazu Temple. Later Monk Guanzhi lived here in seclusion, followed by monk Daguan during the 25th reigning year of Wanly of the Ming Dynasty (1597 AD). It is in the 27th reigning year of Wanly (1599AD) when the Emperor Shenzong renamed the temple to Foguang and helped to store buddhist scriptures

the historic quarter of Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay is a beautiful world heritage site with Portuguese and Spanish style architecture and a free buildings layout plan.
Stone walls, wooden trellis, tiled roofs are very well preserved.
Narrow cobbled streets, single-story buildings.
Colonia is located at the tip of a short peninsula, surrounded by the sea.

architectural masterpiece of Incas Empire
one of the most exciting places I have been! unesco world famous historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu at 2400 meters above sea level in Peru.
located between the Peruvian Andes and the Amazon Basin, covers an area of 32500 hectares.
The Citadel was built in the 15th century and later abandoned when the Inca Empire was conquered by the Spanish.

brand new plank rd on East Fortress Trail
on of the most beautiful part of Tianzhu Mountain is the East Fortress Hiking Trail. It is also one of the most difficult and require a full day with many steps to climb.
From the entrance the first part is not paved, after a while a paved stone road will take you to the top.
Soon a newly plank road, currently under construction, will allow tourists to save energy taking anew cable car.

Deva Lion Peak on East Pass Trail
the most difficult part of Tianzhushan is to get to Deva Lion Peak. It is on the East Pass Trail Area and you to climb many very stairs. Luckily they just completed a brand new plank road attached on the side of the mountains that save hours of more strenuous climb. Even if the plank road was not completed, I was able to walk on it and finally get to the Deva Lion Peak, from where the 360 degree view is simply WOW!

bizarre Drumstick Rock
along the Eastern Pass route of Tianzhu Mountain you will meet a bizarre rock, just on the side of Quanzhang Cliff, called Drumstick Rock.
It stands alone and upright, with the upper part thick and lower part thin.
This route is one of the best scenic area of Tianzhushan and very few tourists explore it.
They were doing a big renovation with brand new plank road.

East Fortress Route
The Tianzhushan Unesco Geopark is famous for its beautiful granite landforms, and is also rich in culture and history with more than a thousand years: relics from the Neolithic Period can be found here, the fiefdom of the ancient Wan State was located here during the Spring and Autumn Period and in 106 BC Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty ascended Tianzhushan and referred to it as Sacred Southern Mountain.

pills of immortality from Eastern Han Dynasty
also called Up Alchemy and Liangyaoping is a 13m deep and 22600m2 lake in Tianzhu Mountain. Located at 1089m asl is so called because the famed founder of alchemy in the Eastern Han Dynasty Zuo Ci practiced his religion and refined pills of immortality here.
Zuo Ci alchemy house and platform are on the side of the lake.
The lake is surrounded by the granite peaks.

San Zu Shan Gu Buddhist temple of Qian Yuan
originally called SanGu temple, Sanzu Temple 三祖寺 it is said that an alchemist and a monk called Bao Zhi wanted to set up Taoist rites here and the emperor Liang Wu Di asked them to demonstrate their own magic powers, Bao Zhi won so he got the right to set up the temple here. In the first year of Qianyuan's reign in the Tang Dynasty, the emperor Tang Suzong gave the temple the title of “San Zu Shan Gu Buddhist temple of Qian Yuan”. San Zu temple has remained prosperous for almost 1500 years.
