VISIT HONG KONG: Stanley (Must-go places in Hong Kong)
Stanley is a major tourist town on Hong Kong Island. Located between Repulse Bay and Shek O, you can reach it via the 6X bus from Exchange Square in Central.
Aside from being a scenically beautiful place with beautiful beaches, Stanley is home to popular places for shopping, including Stanley Market, which houses small shops and stalls, Stanley Plaza, a shopping mall hosting a variety of yearly events and popular shops and restaurants.
In Stanley, you’re not limited by where you can eat. Stanley Main Street has many bars and restaurants along its waterfront road.
A key place in Stanley is Murray House— a building previously located in Central from 1846, but moved to Stanley in the 2000s. It houses a large H&M clothing store and some restaurants.
Stanley is a popular place for those visiting Hong Kong, whether it be for scenic reasons, historical reasons or to go shopping! Chances are, if you’ve been to Hong Kong, you’ve been to Stanley.

VISIT LANTAU ISLAND: Ngong Ping (Must-go places in Hong Kong)
Ngong Ping is a major tourist hotspot in Hong Kong. Hailed as a garden in the sky, at 400 meters altitude, it is a place you cannot miss when travelling to Hong Kong.
Most notably, Ngong Ping is home to the Tiantan Giant Buddha (天壇大佛), the largest outdoor bronze statue of Buddha in the world that has been officially completed since December 1993, and just recently underwent a major refurbishment. The Buddha is so big that it can be seen from as far away as Macau on the clearest of days. It is also so big a tourist attraction that it can cause queues of up to 1 hour during peak times on the transport methods used to reach the Buddha. These include the New Lantau Bus No. 23 (which takes 50 minutes from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping) and the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car (which originates from the same place, and takes just 25 minutes— but at a premium price).
Of course, one must not forget about the Po Lin Monastery which has been there since being founded by monks from the Jiangsu Province in 1906. Of course, it was not always so easy to access the Buddha, with keen visitors taking the time to hike up the hill.
Despite the advancement in transport, hiking remains a popular activity for those visiting Ngong Ping, which serves as a starting/end point for those hiking to/from Lantau Peak, the 2nd highest peak in Hong Kong, and the highest on Lantau Island.
Like I said in my Tripmoments post about Tai O: If you visit Hong Kong, sure you can’t miss Lantau Island, but more importantly, you can’t come over to Lantau Island and not go to Ngong Ping.
You can easily fit Ngong Ping and Tai O into your itineraries with easy access via bus 23 (Ngong Ping — Tung Chung), bus 21 (Ngong Ping — Tai O), bus 11 (Tai O — Tung Chung), bus 1 (Mui Wo — Tai O) and bus 2 (Mui Wo — Ngong Ping).
However, there are more scenic routes available. You can book Cable Car Tickets at a discounted price on trip.com to travel from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping. You could hike to Tai O if you wanted, but of course, bus 21 is an easy service you can opt for. From Tai O, you could choose to take the ferry that goes to Tung Chung, and on to Tuen Mun for views of the sea and the Hong Kong — Zhuhai — Macau Bridge.

VISIT LANTAU ISLAND: Tai O (Must-go places in Hong Kong)
Inhabited since as early as the Stone Age, Tai O is one of the most famous fishing communities in Hong Kong.
For those living in Hong Kong, this is a place that you would be ashamed of having never been to as it highlights the traditional culture of Hong Kong.
Tai O is home to Buddhist culture, incredible scenic spots and restaurants that you must visit to try out the fresh seafood cooked nearby.
The rich culture is displayed during the large-scale Dragon Boat competition which takes place each year.
Come to Tai O via bus from Mui Wo or Tung Chung, via Ferry from Tuen Mun/Tung Chung or even Water Taxi from Central (now 23% off on trip.com). Go on a nice walk to see the sights of Tai O before rewarding yourself with a delicious seafood meal. Fancy going on another walk? Go ahead! Why not go on a longer walk up the Pink Dolphin Trail or to Yi O? Then you can reward yourself with the sweet Tai O Donut from Tai O Bakery!
If you visit Hong Kong, sure you can’t miss Lantau Island, but more importantly, you can’t come over to Lantau Island and not go to Tai O.

Hong Kong's Famous Wong Tai Sin Temple
In Bangkok, everyone heads to the four face Buddha to pray and worship. While in Hong Kong, everyone heads to the famous Wong Tai Sin Temple. The temple is an attraction in Hong kong but it is also a place of worship and prayers for many devotees.
Many believe that your prayers or requests will be answered when you pray to the deity wong tai sin, hence making this temple a well known one amongst locals and tourists. It is also near the Lion Rock, and kill Two birds with one stone, by visiting the temple then heading to lion rock.
Wong Tai Sin Temple is open everyday but do take note on its operating time. Come by and say a prayer and see if it gets answered.

What comes into your mind when you are travelling to Hong Kong? For us, it would be Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng!
There are many Cha Chaan Teng in Hong Kong and we went to a few.
Most common food items on their menu selling in Cha Chaan Teng are their Polo Bun with butter, Maggie mee with luncheon meat, macaroni with ham and etc.
And we will always order their ice Hong Kong Milk Tea. One of our favourite drink, as it is super Gao (thick)!
We would recommend this Cha Chaan Teng: Cheung Heung Yuen Restaurant. It is the usual traditional Hong Kong style and nostalgic tea restaurant with a great variety of food items available on their menu.
Do drop by this Cha Chaan Teng in Hong Kong and try out their food!

Tian Tan Buddha Hong Kong
#meethongkong
An amazing location of pure serenity. There are a number of ways to reach this incredible location, bus, taxi, but best of all the glass bottom cable car, which begins its journey from Tung Chung, Lantau Island. It pays to go early because there can be huge queues for cable car, especially on a Tuesday, but the wait is well worth it.
The view from the cable is amazing as you go over the bays at up to 300 ft, after which you go between the mountains, then as if he jumped out of the mountains, the Buddha appears as if by magic. Upon reaching the venue, you will find there is plenty to do and see.
There are many restaurants and food outlets, along with drinks a plenty (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). As you walk through the impressive gateway to the main site, you will see highly cleansed cows wandering freely around, plus many Buddhist Monks who are quite happy to have a photograph taken with you.
Then comes the 260 steps up to the main attraction, The Big Buddha, the daunting bronze figure seems to come alive as you get nearer, as though beckoning you, makes you very different inside, quite unexplainable. When you reach the top you can walk around the Buddha, you can also go inside, within the Buddha.
Please kindly observe that NO PHOTOGRAPHY IS ALLOWED INSIDE HERE, as it is sacred, PLEASE RESPECT THIS. If ever you go to Hong Kong, the Big Buddha is an absolute must.
Highly recommended.

Avenue Of Stars Hong Kong
#meethongkong
The Avenue of the Stars promenade was re- vamped a couple years ago and is now a beautiful, open pedestrian space that runs alongside the Victoria Harbour. Stepping off the Star Ferry, you can follow the promenade right along the waterfront, with fabulous million-dollar views across to Hong Kong island.
The main attraction is the view but they have also created a Hollywood-style Walk of Fame feature with bronze handprints on the railings instead of stars on the ground. Over 100 Hong Kong celebrities and actors, including Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh (Crazy Rich Asians) and Chow Yun-fat, have made their mark here. Not many will be recognisable to overseas visitors but they are household names in Hong Kong. If you're curious to know who's who, each plaque has a QR code so you can scan it for more information.
Of the four bronze sculptures, the most famous is Bruce Lee - recognisable to everyone, surely. Standing on an elevated water feature, he strikes his classic martial arts pose. It fits in nicely with Bruce's famous quote, "Be water my friend. Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water" The other statues are Cantopop diva Anita Mui, the cartoon pig McDull and a female figure representing the Hong Kong Film Awards.

Located at the iconic Central Harbourfront, the Hong Kong Observation Wheel offers spectacular day and night views of Hong Kong’s famous skyline and much more. With just a quick stroll from the Central/Hong Kong MTR Station and Central Ferry Piers, you will not only be greeted by our Ferris wheel, but also an open lawn, yummy snacks and free healthy initiatives at our wellness-themed park: AIA Vitality Park. The AIA Vitality Park hosts a variety of classes and events including fitness classes, yoga, kickboxing, swing dancing and even Capoeira. We will continue to introduce new elements to this iconic landmark including a Classic Carousel which is now open to public.
Its a great place to spend some quality time especially in the evening. The food court and the attractions are great. Best to visit with family and friends.

Throwback to before Covid hits the world
Milk Tea is the Real Deal
This is basically an older Hong Kong style cafe and for comparison it’d be like an American diner. So you have to come in with reasonable expectations. It’s by no means fine dining or the prettiest of places but you will get the experience of a legitimate Hong Kong cafe style meal.
The Milk Tea is reason enough to come here. The gentlemen in the sleeveless shirt takes his job seriously and puts out a delicious cup of tea. You can get it hot or cold and I generally enjoy the cold one as it’s a nice refreshment on a warm day. Coming here for the first time though I opted for the original hot milk tea. Add sugar to suit your own personal taste. I’m not affected by caffeine so I can’t comment on the strength of the tea but the “tea taste” is strong. Milk teas that I have had at other shops have sometimes tasted watered down. That is not the case here.
I found the servers friendly and they chatted with us in Cantonese. Some of them have their quirks and may come off as rude but Cantonese can sometimes sound like an angry language. But this adds to the genuine HK cafe experience and not unlike some of the interesting characters that reside at any diner.

Former Kowloon-Canton Railway Clock
#meethongkong
The Canton Railway Clock Tower is a Declared monument and historic landmark building next to the Star Ferry terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST).
What you will see is a 44 metre tall tower made of red brick and granite. Each side has a clock face, the tower is caped by a small dome and a 7 metre tall lightening rod. Originally built between 1913-15, the clock tower is an important reminder of Hong Kong's colonial past.
It stands proudly on its own next to the harbour these days. In the past, it was part of the old Kowloon-Canton Railway Terminus that has long been demolished. At one time, the clock tower dominated the Kowloon skyline, now it is simply a link to the past and a historic landmark for all of us to enjoy when spending time in TST along Victoria Harbour.

Hong Kong Disneyland
#meethongkong
My visit to Hong Kong Disneyland was magical. From the exciting rides, character interactions to the live 'follow your dreams' 15th anniversary show, it never failed to entertain me throughout the day.
Absolutely loved how nice and sweet the cast members were and how they always tried to make every guest's experience as magical as possible. However, would definitely recommend guests to bring a hand-held fan or some sort of cooling devices there as (especially in the summer) the sun is scorching hot.
Besides that, downloading the Hong Kong Disneyland official app would be a great help for guests to check the waiting time of each ride before deciding to head down to a particular ride. As an annual disney pass holder, I'm definitely looking forward to visit hk disneyland again.

Kowloon Clock Tower is a landmark that one should not miss especially when one is travelling to Hong Kong. It is also suitable for families to visit as well.

Victoria Peak
#meethongkong
If you are visitng Hong Kong, Victoria Peak should be on your top list visit.
This is still the most expensive area I guess in Hong Kong and you can not only visit this tourist attraction but also have some pretty good food at local restaurants.
Victoria Peak is the highest point on the island at 552 meters above sea level. From the top of this mountain you can enjoy a magnificent view of Hong Kong, its skyscrapers, the Kowloon waterfront, and the mountains visible in the distance of the island.
Named after Queen Victoria. However, the other name of the hill is also known as Mount Austin. Back in the days of British rule, Victoria Peak was the area where the homes of the upper class were located. The Chinese were forbidden to settle in such an elite area. To this day, the Peak is considered the most prestigious place in the entire city.

Victoria Harbour Hong Kong
#meethongkong
Victoria Harbour is not just a harbor, it is an attraction that cannot be missed. Hong Kong has developed from the former small fishing village to today's "Asia's world city". This natural deep-water haven has contributed.
Today, the endless stream of cargo ships, sailboats, rafts and luxury cruise ships in Victoria Harbour, together with the skyscrapers of the row, create a unique sea landscape.
To experience the different beauty of Victoria Harbour, you can try a cruise on the sightseeing boat or watch the night view on the observation deck on both sides of the Victoria Harbour.
After all it is one of the most iconic and beautiful bay in the world. I still recall watching James Bond as a kid as he entered the hull of the sunken ship in the bay. there is just something mysterious about HongKong that will always make it a magical place.

Ocean Park Hong Kong
#meethongkong
Ocean Park is a must-visit place in Hong Kong where one can find this as a mix between a theme park and a zoo. Here you can find lots of fun rides including their adrenaline-rushing Hair Raiser roller coaster ride.
You can also get to experience a closer look to one of the cutest animals in the world, the Giant Panda. Two of their pandas are named Ying Ying and Le Le.
Of course they are named as Ocean Park because of their grandest The Grand Aquarium. With lots of sea creatures ranging from tiny seahorses to colossal giant mantas and hammerhead sharks.
We got here by taking the MTR via South Island Line and get off directly at the Ocean Park station.

The views you get here at the harbour during the day and the night are totally different! At night here, you will get to see tall buildings with lights.
The views here are truly amazing and stunning. No words could express how beautiful the views are until you visit Victoria Harbour yourself!
It gets even colder during the night. We went over to Starbucks to buy a hot chocolate to warm ourselves while enjoying the scenery.
Victoria Harbour is one of the most beautiful pleases to visit in Hong Kong. It is about 10 mins walk from Tsim Sha Tsui Station.

The Peak Hong Kong

Throw back to our Hong Kong trip before covid!
The Peak Hong Kong is a must-visit attraction when you are in Hong Kong!
In order to reach to the Peak, we took their transportation which is the Peak Tram. The tram ride was smooth, stable and the tram moves quite slowly. You get to see some scenery along the way, but the best scenery view is still at the Victoria Peak which is the highest point!
Once you get to the highest point, the views you get to see are breathtaking! We get to see the spectacular view of Hong Kong skyline and waterfront views. The Victoria Peak is located at 552 meters above the sea level.
This is something one may have to consider if you are afraid of heights.
When we get up to the peak, it is already night time and the night view is extremely beautiful! No regrets!

Big Buddha in Hong Kong
I have always heard of the big Buddha in Hong Kong and I am so glad I actually went to visit it. To get to Big Buddha, which is on the lantau island, there are 2 ways to access it. One is to take ferry and then a bus, which is more troublesome, or two which is to take a cable car up.
The answer is obvious and I chose to take the ngong ping 360, which is their cable car up and this cable car ride is also a tourist attraction in Hong Kong. The ride gives you a magnificent view of Hong Kong, the big Buddha and the mountains surrounding it. Once you reach the top, be prepared to climb a long long flight of stairs which leads to big Buddha. There, you will see devotees praying to Buddha and you can get a sense of peace.
Overall, it was a great experience and the sights are just awesome.

Throwing back to pre-covid travelling to Hong Kong!!
My family and I went to Hong Kong Disneyland during November. That period was already pretty cold and we love this weather which Singapore does not and will not have!

However, still a must-to-go-place!

A day in Hongkong's Ocean Park
Ocean Park Hongkong is for all ages. It has everything from Animal exhibits with different themes such as a giant panda habitat, a rainforest area, and polar displays. It also has fun rides including four roller coasters.
It's open from 10:00am to 6:00pm on weekdays, and 10:00am to 7:00pm on weekends and public holidays. Redeeming ticket was super easy and the park offers hours of entertainment. It can become super hot during the day, so I advised yourself to stay hyderated. You can start by having lunch, then visit pandas, penguins, see dolphins show, sharks and stingrays from up close. Then take a cable car to the other side of the mountain to enjoy some crazy rides, try your luck in numerous games, watch dance shows and drink loads of beer with your litre refill.
Ocean Park Hongkong is very famous tourist spot in Hongkong. If you get tired of Disney, Ocean Park will be a good choice. The facilities are more suitable for children to play more mildly and not stimulate, and there are also facilities for adults who want to challenge the limits, so it is a very suitable for a family to enter the park ㄧ and enjoy it. Highly recommended.

Hiking at Lion Rock Peak
I don't know about you but it brings me great exhilaration when I finished my hike and managed to reach the top of the mountain. It's like I can shout "YES I DID IT!" when I am at the top.
In Hong Kong, I was able to hike the Lion Rock peak and it is a mountain that is about 495 meters high. The whole entire climb took about 3-4 hours, depending on your speed. On your way up, you can enjoy nature and have a great view of Hong Kong's city scape. The hike is relatively easy but the trail is not entirely paved so be sure to put on proper shoes. This place is popular amongst the people in Hong Kong so it may get crowded. Just a word of caution, there are monkeys there too so do not feed them.
The mountain has a rocky outline of a resting lion, thus the name Lion Rock. Enjoy the view when you're at the top and its great fun hiking with friends.

Famous Hong Kong dim sum
Address - One Dim Sum Restaurant, G/F Shop 1 & 2, 15 Playing Field Road, Kenwood Mansion, Prince Edward, Hong Kong
We discovered this restaurant on google as it had many good reviews so we wanted to try it out. Wow, it is so famous that the queues were really long. For such a popular place, the prices were really affordable, plus points! Only thing is that the dining space is quite small so there will be a lack of personal space. Regardless, I highly recommend this place if you enjoy good dim sum.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

W kitchen Hong Kong Buffet
#meethongkong
Throwback to 2018 before Covid hits!
The design of W KITCHEN in Hong Kong is different from other Ws in that it uses wooden tones for decoration, but when you walk into this wood-filled space, it is unique!
The Kitchen restaurant has a large dining table, which is designed for the tenants who come alone, so that the tenants can chat with the chefs in the open kitchen next door and even the neighbors while eating. The hall on the other side faces the sea view, and the outer wall of the golden column is covered with fake golden eggs.
Kitchen mainly provides international food and buffet. And because of the high degree of self-management and quality improvement of the ingredients, it won the 2019 Asia-Pacific A.A. Food Award Special Jury of the Additive-Free Association!
The most special thing is that there is a walkway that looks like a cabin, not to mention I thought I was here to take a boat!
Hong Kong-style dim sum is indispensable in the kitchen, as well as special installation art and flying plates!
In the open kitchen, you can communicate with the chef what type of meal you want to help customers customize it!
The special of the day in the kitchen is the Lobster Eggs Benedict! It really melts in the mouth, the soft-boiled egg with lobster, hits a different spark!
The variety of cold drink area is also jaw-dropping...

Acesite Knutsford Hotel

Throwback to 2021 solo trip to HK!
I don't know if there is anyone like me who travels alone for some quality alone time? It is really troublesome to book a room. It always feels wasteful to book a double room for one person, and I feel a little awkward when booking a backpacker hotel.
I am used to the standard Queen/King size hotels, so I would like to share a Hong Kong accommodation option suitable for solo travel! this hotel is located in Tsim Sha Tsui District, and there are single rooms available, which is great for a lone traveler like me! The lovely single bed is perfect for traveling alone. Although the room is small, the configuration is surprisingly complete.
The use of space is very tight. It is just right for me who is traveling alone. When I opened the small wardrobe, there was only one hanger. Hahaha, but the water heater, teacups, and slippers are also prepared. It can be said that all the basic needs of accommodation are taken care of.
The space is not big, but it is just right and comfortable, and all the items are complete and clean. Go out from the hotel and turn left, Knutsford Terrace in front of you is the bar street, it is very lively at night, it is very convenient and safe if you want to get a little drunk, you can walk back to the hotel. There is a 24-hour supermarket not far from Kimberley Road, and the living functions are quite good, but there is a small slope to climb when returning, which may be a little inconvenient for tourists with heavy luggage.
