🇨🇳 My Day Exploring Dujiangyan with a Local Guide
#localtourguides #100waysoftravel
My unforgettable day in Dujiangyan, guided by a local expert, began with a visit to the renowned Dujiangyan Panda Base. It was a joy to see giant pandas up close, roaming in their well-maintained habitats, which offered a glimpse into ongoing conservation efforts aimed at preserving these magnificent creatures.
After meeting the pandas, we headed to the ancient Dujiangyan Irrigation System. This UNESCO World Heritage site, established in 256 BC, showcases an impressive feat of engineering that has been pivotal in flood prevention and agricultural irrigation over the centuries. Walking through this historical marvel, I gained a deep appreciation for China’s rich engineering history and cultural depth.
We also strolled across the scenic Nanqiao Bridge in the center of Dujiangyan. This beautiful bridge, with its traditional architectural features, provided perfect photo opportunities and a peaceful moment to take in the local ambiance.
To cap off the day, I savored the local flavors of Sichuan with a spicy hotpot meal, followed by a variety of mouth-watering skewers. The food was not only delicious but also an essential part of the cultural experience, highlighting the region’s culinary heritage.
This day tour of Dujiangyan was a perfect blend of nature, history, and cuisine, making it a memorable part of my visit to Chengdu.

Trogir: A Hidden Gem on Croatia’s Coastline
Trogir stole my heart with its charming medieval streets and Trogir: A Hidden Gem on Croatia’s Coastlinecrystal-clear waters. Staying at the lovely apartment, I was just a short walk from the UNESCO-listed Old Town. The town’s architecture is a stunning mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles, and the Cathedral of St. Lawrence was an absolute must-see. A top tip: climb the cathedral’s bell tower for breathtaking views of the town and the Adriatic Sea. The laid-back vibe of the waterfront promenade is perfect for evening strolls, and the nearby Čiovo Island offers serene beaches away from the crowds. Trogir is the perfect blend of history, culture, and coastal beauty!
#TravelTips:Trogir is ideal for a day trip from Split, but spending a few days here lets you fully enjoy its relaxed atmosphere. Don't forget to visit the local markets for fresh seafood and Croatian delicacies.

Aswan, Abu Simbel, Sharm-El-Sheikh
Egypt Part 2
This country has too much to see and too little time for everything!
Breathtaking views, nature and UNESCO sites to see.
Aswan has the beautiful Nile River that you can enjoy by felucca ride or motorboat. Take a trip to the Nubian Village to see the colorful houses and restaurants, walk through the market and smell the different spice. The people of the Nubian Village are so friendly. Eat lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants, you won't regret it the food is fresh and tasty. Something that we regret was not sleeping there for a night that would've been great.
We went to see the UNESCO site Abu Simbel that's a 3 and half hour ride from Aswan and 3 and half hours back but definitely worth it to go see, if you are not up for the ride there is a flight of 45 minutes that you can take as well.
After all the exploring and site seeing we were ready to chill and relax on the beach. We booked into a resort in Sharm-El-Sheikh that was all inclusive. Seeing the Red Se in all it's glory is breathtaking, it's so blue and clear. We had a wonderful time here; swimming, snorkeling, drinking and eating.
Go explore Egypt, you won't regret it!

Spinalonga is situated in the natural harbor of Elounda in the Lassithi in Crete.
It’s known in the world, inhabited leper community between 1903 to 1957 and this was one of the last active leper colonies in Europe, population reached nearly 400 inhabitants during the outbreak of the illness. Infected people were sent to isolation. In Greece, the isolation center was on the island of Spinalonga.
Today, Spinalonga, is one of the most visited archaeological site of Crete, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the greatest historical landmarks in Greece, with people from all over the world arriving in Crete to explore this island. There are a few houses renovated to museums and you would be able to get a glimpse of inhabitants everyday living here.
How to get there? There are regular ferry service across the island from Elounda town which is only 20-30 mins away, entry tickets can be purchased once you arrive on the island.
I was there in July 2022 and there were long queues for ticket purchases ( waited around 45 mins) so make sure buy your ticket in advance.

Chew Jetty, A UNESCO Heritage Site
#2023travelwish #penang #malaysia #unesco #cultural #educational #unescosite
Penang is a place located north of the capital of KL, when visiting penang, one should head to the Chew Jetty which is a UNESCO Heritage Site where its still currently one of the busiest jetty among one of the many other jetties here in penang.
The Chew Jetty is located at Weld Quay, where you will notice many wooden stilted houses where most of it is built over the penang River water. You will be able to understand the cultural aspect and read about the 1st few Chinese penang immigrants.
This would be ideal if Italy would be a choice to head to for my travel wish! Since Italy has the most number of UNESCO sites there!

UNESCO HERITAGE MELAKA
Visited Melaka after 3 long years. The last time I visited was in 2019, pre-covid.
Post Covid, Melaka retains it's charm. it is less crowded but nothing much has changed. The same Red Square, same St Paul Hill, same delicious food, flashy trishaws..
Same friendly people, same laid-back and relax atmosphere where life and pacebof life comes to almost a stand still.
I m glad that Melaka has not change much in the last decade that I visited almost every half year. I hope it remains so and retains it's old world charm...and it UNESCO HERITAGE Site charm...
Old is gold and it's so true and apt for Melaka
