🚂 Chaoping Station, Alishan Forest Railway
On our first day in Alishan, we followed the recommendation of our hotel receptionist and took the Alishan Forest Railway from Alishan Station to Chaoping Station (沼平車站). This station marks the starting point of the hiking trail that leads to Younger Sister Pond, Elder Sister Pond, the pig-shaped old stump, and Magnolia Garden. Along the way, we were fortunate enough to witness a passing themed train. The sight of the beautiful, old-fashioned train winding through the lush forest was breathtaking!

Longridge: the gateway to the forest of Bowland
Longridge is a small town just north of Preston but its surrounding area is where its scale changes.
The market town lies on the edge of one of Britain’s most remote areas of outstanding natural beauty. The villages of Chipping, Whitewell and Newton in Bowland with their high class country pubs are only a short drive away and with fantastic walks such as Longridge and Beacon fells as well as the Tolkien trail in the area, make Longridge you next staycation spot or day trip.

🚂 Alishan Train Station
Train enthusiasts will certainly not want to miss taking the iconic Alishan Forest Railway while visiting Alishan in Taiwan. The starting point of the forest railway is Alishan Train Station, a key transportation hub within the Alishan Forest Recreation Area. The station was originally built in 1914 during the Japanese colonial period for the transport of valuable timber, especially cypress and cedar, from the Alishan region. The railway was an engineering marvel at the time, designed to navigate the steep and rugged terrain of the Alishan Mountains. The station itself is a charming, rustic structure that blends into the natural surroundings. The views of the Alishan Forest Recreation Area from the station are spectacular.

Alishan National Forest Recreation Area Town Centre
Sitting at an elevation of about 2,000 meters, Alishan Forest Recreation Area is a natural park in Chiayi County, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, ancient forests, and scenic train rides. We took a bus from Sun Moon Lake to the Alishan Transport Station, and from there, the entrance to the national park was just a short walk away. Visitors are required to pay an entrance fee, with the cost for an adult foreigner being NT$300. We walked about 15 minutes from the entrance to our accommodation at Wankou Hotel. The town center of the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area is small and compact. On the way to our hotel, we passed the visitor center and car park. Most shops and restaurants are located around the town center.

Fresh air and smell of pine trees in Bukhansan forest
Bukhansan national park is a massive area with trails of different difficulty levels. And while you need to be relatively fit to hike up to the mountain tops - it is not necessarily at all to make outing to Bukhasan park exhausting if you not in the mood for a serious hiking day.
Lower levels are a beautiful forest area with all sorts of trees with pine trees being my personal favorite. There are numerous Buddhist temples sitting in the midst pf forest to visit.
Tip: night hiking is forbidden.
One more tip: don't forget your mosquito spray!

Callian forest 🇫🇷
#forest
I recently spent a day exploring the forest near Callian, France, and it was such a peaceful escape! 🍂 Nestled in the heart of Provence, Callian’s surrounding woodlands feel like stepping into a different world—quiet, lush, and full of earthy aromas. The trails are perfect for a leisurely hike or a nature walk, offering stunning views of the rolling hills and distant vineyards. It felt amazing to breathe in the crisp autumn air, with the leaves turning shades of gold and red.
There’s no entrance fee, so you can just wander at your own pace. I didn’t encounter many other hikers, which made the experience feel more intimate and special. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
#forest
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is indeed a very famous park in the world. I meet many foreign tourists here, but the ticket price is not cheap. It costs 56 Canadian dollars per person. The most famous one is the very famous one. The long suspension bridge will be shaky when you walk on it, and then there is a suspension bridge in the air that you can walk on, which is very beautiful. In addition, there is a sky bridge similar to the one in the Grand Canyon Park. The bridge walking on the edge of the cliff makes everyone very frightened. We came in June, so the weather was very good. You may need to wear a thin jacket when walking inside, otherwise it will be a bit cold under the many forest trees.
This is a leisure place suitable for vacation, with fresh air, walking in the green forest, and walking on the suspension bridge to train courage and balance. There is a free shuttle bus from Vancouver's Canada Place to pick up tourists at regular intervals. There are many tourists. However, the park is still very peaceful and suitable for a half-day or full-day trip, which is recommended.

Getting There - Take the Circle Line and alight at Labrador Park MRT Station (CC27). From the MRT station, it's about a 10-15 minute walk to the reserve. Follow the signs towards Labrador Park or walk along Berlayer Creek Boardwalk to reach the park.
Attractions - Look out for any historical markers or informational plaques along the trails that tell you about the area's history and significance. There are spots where you can catch stunning views of the surrounding nature and, if you’re lucky, maybe even glimpses of the sea. These are great places to relax and take photos.

Huanglong Forest is the Paradise
#forest
Huanglong Forest is a key feature of the Huanglong National Park, known for its rich biodiversity and stunning natural beauty. Situated at a high altitude, around 3,500 meters above sea level, the forest is a mix of lush vegetation, coniferous trees, and ancient pines. The cool, crisp air and serene environment make it an ideal spot for nature lovers.
The forest is also home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, squirrels, and occasionally more elusive animals like wild goats. Its vibrant greenery provides a striking contrast to the park's famous limestone pools and colorful mineral terraces, creating a diverse landscape for visitors to explore.
As you hike through the forest, you’ll encounter well-maintained trails leading to other attractions in the park, such as the stunning waterfalls and the iconic Huanglong Valley. The forest’s altitude adds a sense of tranquility, though visitors should be mindful of altitude sickness due to the thinner air at this elevation.

Wuying National Forest Park
#forest
The Wuying National Forest Park scenic area has a very good environment and complete facilities. There are sightseeing buses in the scenic spots, making it very convenient to get everywhere. There are many squirrels in the scenic spot, mainly chipmunks and black squirrels. Chipmunks are bold and not afraid of people, while black squirrels are large but timid. If you want to feed the squirrels, it is recommended to come early because the squirrels will not come out when they are full. I fed the squirrels at Guanyin Mountain. The squirrels here are not afraid of people and can even be touched.
It is not recommended to go to the garden within a garden. There are only some animal models inside, and there is nothing worth seeing. There is a Screaming Fountain in Tianci Lake, which is quite fun. The Animal Garden and Tiger Roaring Mountain have been abandoned. You can also go for a walk around Tianci Lake. There are very few people and it is very pleasant to walk among the pine forests with fallen leaves. You can find a car at the small square in Wuying Town to go to Wuying National Forest Park.
Yichun deserves to be called a forest city. There are too many forest resources and the environment is very well protected. You will have a good travel experience here. Of course, Wuying National Forest Park is not to be missed and is worth recommending.
Aokigahara: The “Cursed” Forest of Japan 🌳
#forest
Aokigahara, also known as the Sea of Trees, is infamous not only for its dense beauty but also for its dark reputation as the "cursed" forest of Japan. Nestled at the northwest base of Mount Fuji, this sprawling forest is shrouded in mystery, folklore, and tragedy. Over time, it has earned a reputation for being haunted, with stories of lost spirits, or yūrei, wandering through the forest’s shadowy depths.
The thick canopy and jagged volcanic landscape contribute to the eerie stillness of Aokigahara. While the forest is rich with natural beauty, featuring ancient trees, lava caves, and a unique ecosystem, it is also linked to more tragic associations, amplifying its "cursed" status.
