🇱🇰 The Largest cave temple complex in Dambulla, Sri Lanka
Inscribed in 1991 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple in Sri Lanka is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in the country. This sacred site, built into five caves beneath an overhanging rock, has been a place of pilgrimage for over 22 centuries. The Buddhist mural paintings and statues within the caves are truly sights to behold.
The cave temple is located on a hill, 20 km from Sigiriya. The entrance ticket costs 2,000 rupees per person and can only be purchased at the ticket counter at the foot of the hill. From there, we had to climb many flights of stairs to reach the temple entrance. The views of the surrounding area on the way up were spectacular.
Before entering the temple, we had to remove our shoes, so wearing socks is recommended. Remember to wear modest clothing that covers your knees and shoulders while visiting sacred sites. There are many street vendors outside the temple selling sarongs, and it is also possible to rent a sarong to cover your knees before entering the temple.

🇵🇹 Sanctuary of the Christ of King ✝️
The Sanctuary of Christ the King is a Catholic monument and shrine located in Almada, the southern bank of Tagus River in Lisbon. The Catholic statue was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The monument was built after World War II and inaugurated in 1959.
This is probably the best place in Lisbon which offers stunning views of the 25 April Bridge which connects the city of Lisbon and Almada. The entrance ticket costs 8€ and allows you to take the lift to the top floor. From there you still have to climb a few flights of stairs to reach the observation deck where the statue of Jesus Christ is built. The viewpoint at the bottom of the monument also offers great views and walking on the ground surrounding the monument is completely free.

Second tallest Shiva Statue Temple 🙏
#timetotravel
The very basic reason for the popularity of the place is the breathtaking beauty of the Murudeshwara temple and the gigantic gopuram (gateway).
The gopuram at the entrance is known as the Raj gopuram and it is 249 feet tall.
Being the second tallest Shiva statue, the place attracts huge tourist attention.
Also it is located just at the sea shore, it looks so beautiful in Aerial shots.
A must visit place while visiting coastal Karnataka, India.

Lovely Conwy!
Conwy is a historic town in North Wales!
Getting there- 🚂🚙 by train to Conwy station, or by driving via the coast road or by mountain road.
Make sure to visit the Smallest House in Great Britain, the castle - which was built by the English King Edward I and the statue of Llywelyn I - who is called Llywelyn the Great and is one of the most famous and respected leaders in the history of Wales!
Conwy is very walkable - which is a good thing if you come by car! This is because the streets are very narrow, and the historic town walls can make it difficult for wider cars to park in the town centre.
There are multiple bakeries, cafes, restaurants, and bars in Conwy, serving local seafood, and many other tasty Welsh treats! #wales #castle #uk #statue

Temple of Leah
In the Queen City of the South, a palace of Teodoro Adarna’s Queen Leah Villa Albino-Adarna was made and replicated with a big statue in the middle. After a few years of waiting, the Philippine version of Taj Mahal has finally opened to welcome visitors.
The temple has an art gallery, museum, and a library where all of the favorite things her wife owned are placed. At the top, there’s a spectacular view of the city and more exceptional scenery as you walk through the temple. In this Greek methodology-inspired 7-story mansion, there are gigantic lions lying on each side of the stairs that will guide you to the door step of another jaw-dropping view. You can see a grand staircase with angels made up of brass and the Queen of the Temple in a 10-ft statue with crown and flower.

The statue
The statue is worth mentioning and seeing. For an average visitor it could initially be just a statue with a fountain but for Finnish people it has much more significance. Every time Finland is able to win an important gold medal especially in ice hockey, people gather around the statue and climb to it and swim in the surrounding pool. There is also a habit of putting a graduation hat to the statue every year 30th of April at 6pm which marks the start of the May Day celebration. You can expect to see many people gathering around the statue at that time. There are some concerns that the old and hollow statue might not sustain the loads caused by the people celebrating and climbing on it so the city authorities have been trying to preserve the statue during past years.

Challenging Climb to Batu Caves
I’ve seen photos of this tourist attraction from acquaintances and found it fascinating. So, when I had the opportunity, I stayed in KL over the weekend after our training. This is one of the places I visited during that very short trip - pre-pandemic.
At first, I thought that I wouldn’t be able to reach the caves since it was very hot and I am really not in the pink of health. However, the saying “if there’s a will, there’s a way” was indeed true ;) I paced myself, stopping/resting once in a while, until I conquered climbing the over 200 steps of the stairs leading to it.
I had a great time admiring and taking pictures of the different statues, shrines and lime formations. I was so tired and it was so hot, so I really didn’t go inside further into the inner chambers. I backed out immediately after seeing another flight of stairs and honestly, I was afraid of the monkeys and the stories I’ve heard of their mischiefs! Hahaha! Nevertheless, this is still one experience I’d never forget and am glad I got to see the cave personally.

Big-Buddha Heavenly Peaceful
The Statue of the 112 feet tall Big Buddha, constructed from 202 bronze pieces and 34 metres tall is a must visit when you visit Ngong Ping. It is visited through the year by a large number of tourists. Very peaceful and worth spending some time.
The Buddha statue denotes the harmonious relationship between people and faith, set amidst the lap of nature. A total of 268 steps lead to Buddha. However, there is also a small road for vehicles etc. so that any one with a physical disability is also able to visit. Beneath the statue are three halls and there is a relic of Buddha inside which can be seen only by visitors who purchase an offering for the Buddha.
Worth a visit totally!

Zijincheng: The Forbidden City
The Forbidden palace may be the world’s largest imperial palace, yet the palace seems so small when you navigate it among the sea of tourists you will encounter on your visit. Nevertheless, this should not stop you from visiting one of the biggest attractions in China that dates from Ming dynasty (completed in 1644).
The city is not only an amazing architectural complex, but has the most important Chinese heritage collection in artwork, artifacts and designs (from gardens to ancient buildings). Most of the buildings are made of wood, which different designs in different areas. If you are very attentive, you will notice there are cats but no birds in the Forbidden City. It is said that most of these cats are descendants of the royal cats owned by of the concubines in Ming and Qing dynasties (all the way from 1368!).
There are few gardens and a small shop inside the city if you want to buy a tiny replica of some relics, or get yourself a nice souvenir. Keep in mind many areas in the city are still closed due to overall renovations.
If you have some additional free time, you can walk a few minutes to Jingshan park. Up the hill you will be able to appreciate the view of the whole city complex (which is approximately 720,000 m2).

Beloved Bear in Leicester Square
One of my favourite moments of visiting London was seeing the Paddington Bear statue in Leicester Square Park. It’s a lot more detailed than the one in Paddington Station as it has his signature coat and marmalade sandwich. I like that he’s just casually sat on the bench rather than mounted on a plinth so you can sit with him if you like as the fellow on the left did. There are a few other statues in the area such as Shakespeare and Charlie Chaplin, and the quietness of the park is a nice contrast to the busier environment in Leicester Square with the theatre bustle and the Lego Store, with a long queue of excited children. The M&M’s store was also very impressive and colourful, and is apparently the largest sweet shop in the world with 4 storeys! #citydaytours #london #paddington #travel #statue #leicestersquare
