Looks like Chinese paintings come to live
Slender West Lake 瘦西湖 of Yangzhou has one of the most spectacular views in China. It was a favorite vacation place of Chinese emperor. It is very easy to get there. There are a few entrances/exits. It is worth to have a picnic inside. There are also small stores selling local cuisine.

Slim west lake, yangzhou瘦西湖
Just spent a beautiful summer day at Yangzhou's Slim West Lake (瘦西湖) last month – what a breathtaking spot! 🌿 The narrow, meandering lake lived up to its name, with shimmering waters reflecting lush green trees and colorful lotus flowers in full bloom. Walking along the winding paths, I couldn’t help but admire the Five Pavilion Bridge, its pagoda-style roofs standing elegantly over the water. The view of this park was unreal – a perfect blend of nature and history. Definitely a place to slow down, breathe in the beauty, and appreciate the poetry of Chinese landscapes. 🌸 #SlimWestLake #Yangzhou #SummerWanderlust #TravelMoments
The Thin West Lake!
Location: Yangzhou city, Jiangsu province.
This is called the Thin West Lake 瘦西湖 - I think it borrows its name from the famous Hangzhou west lake.
This lake is just as nice as the one in Hangzhou and it's huge. You can easily spend an entire day here enjoying the plants, lakes, souvenirs and boat rides.
It's an absolute haven for photography and even on a cloudy day you can get some really nice shots.

Discovering the Tranquility of Yangzhou’s Classical Gardens
Stepping into Yangzhou’s gardens is like entering a timeless sanctuary where nature, art, and culture come together in perfect harmony. Known for their poetic design and delicate beauty, the gardens of Yangzhou embody the essence of classical Chinese landscaping, which values simplicity, elegance, and an immersive connection with the natural world.
One of the most enchanting aspects of Yangzhou’s gardens is their meticulous design. These gardens, crafted centuries ago, showcase an artistry that turns every path, pond, and pavilion into a living painting. Wandering through winding corridors and serene courtyards, it’s easy to lose yourself in the intricate details—whether it’s a weathered stone bridge, a gracefully arched doorway, or a tranquil pond reflecting the sky. The experience is not just about sight, but about immersing all the senses. The gentle trickle of water, the subtle scent of blossoms, and the sound of birdsong create a setting that is as peaceful as it is inspiring.
Each garden has its own unique charm. In Geyuan Garden, bamboo groves create natural sculptures that change with the seasons, showcasing four seasons of beauty through varying textures and shades. In Slender West Lake, graceful willows and delicate lotus blooms line the waterways, creating picturesque scenes that capture the very spirit of Jiangnan.
The gardens of Yangzhou are also deeply rooted in Chinese philosophy. Concepts such as “borrowing scenery” #yangzhou where distant views are integrated into the garden, reflect the importance of blending the natural world into human spaces. These techniques encourage visitors to pause and contemplate, inviting us to reflect on the harmony between humanity and nature.
A visit to Yangzhou’s classical gardens is more than just sightseeing—it’s an exploration of balance, serenity, and beauty, all set within landscapes that feel timeless yet ever-changing. If you’re a lover of art, nature, or cultural history, Yangzhou’s gardens offer a truly unforgettable journey into the heart of traditional Chinese aesthetics.

In the heart of Yangzhou's Luyang Hu Wetland Park, you'll find the enchanting Water Forest. Imagine a place where the water sparkles in shades of emerald, like a hidden gem, thanks to a brilliant coat of green algae. It's a world of tall reeds and willow trees, where nature weaves its own spellbinding tapestry. This is definitely a must visit place! #Floating_forest #Water_forest #yangzhou #localguides

Daikichi Hanten
Today's lunch is at "Daikichi Hanten" in Jujo, Kita-ku. I've been interested in fried rice here for a long time, so I visited the restaurant. Of course, I ordered Yangzhou certified fried rice. Perhaps because the expected value was too high, the frozen fried rice tastes better (laughs), and if it feels delicious, is there this price? I think, but I felt it was very expensive. This is a taste that will never happen again.
