Junior designers, please don’t give in
The economy is tanking, and the market is flooding with experienced designers. It is now more challenging than ever to get a job as a junior designer. But the world needs you, please don’t give in.
My experience
My first couple of years out of uni were a complete failure. I started an ambitious company that never got off the ground, I applied for hundreds of graphic design and UX jobs and rarely even got a response. I was miserable and I wanted to give up, but I didn’t, and I am extremely happy now that I didn’t.
I jumped back on the horse, taught myself new skills, and put myself out there to meet new people, and eventually things started to fall into place. It just took patience and a positive mindset.
If you are struggling to find something, just be patient, be relentlessly positive, and stay humble.
Don’t give in to prestige
