Nicole Kidman, Amy Pascal, Amy Poehler, Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington have been selected as the honorees for Variety’s fifth annual Power of Women event celebrating industry leaders and their philanthropic passions.

The Oct. 4 Power of Women kudos, presented by Lifetime Television at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons hotel, will come on the heels of the Oct. 1 publication of Variety’s Women’s Impact report highlighting notable achievements and milestones for femmes in all aspects of media and entertainment.

Kidman will be recognized for her involvement with the United NationsUN Women campaign and its efforts to promote women’s rights worldwide. She serves as the org’s goodwill ambassador and spokeswoman for its Say No — Unite to End Violence Against Women initiative.

Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chair Pascal is a longtime supporter of Teen Line, a peer hotline and community outreach program designed for and run by teenagers.

Theron is the founder of Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, an initiative to keep African youth safe from HIV/AIDS. The actress has met with South African leaders and others on behalf of the org’s mission.

Washington is a supporter of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. As part of the committee’s Turnaround Arts initiative, the “Scandal” star has adopted Savoy Elementary School in Washington, D.C. and recently visited the school with first lady Michelle Obama.
