India market active last week and continue to this week. This week, the market has been calmer, with very few import transactions taking place due to the year-end rise in USD exchange rates. Buyers primarily sourced goods from domestic distributors to ensure production continuity after the holidays and to plan for post-holiday imports. Currently, sea freight costs are gradually cooling down and are expected to stabilize by the end of January 2025, though they might rise again in February 2025. Additionally, both buyers and sellers are waiting to see potential policy changes following Mr. Trump's assumption of office at the end of January 2025 before finalizing import plans. Import price outlook for next week: China: PE and PP prices are expected to remain stable, while PVC prices may stay steady or rise slightly by $5/ton. SEA (Southeast Asia): PE, PP, and PVC prices are forecast to remain unchanged or decrease by up to $5/ton. SA (South Asia): PE and PP prices are expected to remain stable, while PVC prices are projected to either remain unchanged or decrease by $5/ton. The price is stable this week and will be the same as next week. This week, buyers focused on replenishing only the quantities needed to meet their planned purchases. Current distributors are preparing their plans for 2025, so there will likely be fewer offers available in the near term. However, buyers can still rely on domestic supply, which is expected to meet their needs. Import price outlook for next week: China: PE, PP, and PVC prices are expected to remain stable. SEA (Southeast Asia): PE, PP, and PVC prices are forecast to hold steady. SA (South Asia): PE, PP, and PVC prices are projected to remain unchanged. Next week, the price will no change. This week, a significant price gap persists between sellers and buyers. ME distributors offered high prices, but buyers resisted. In the end, the final agreed prices were lower than expected, though there remains a slight upward momentum in the coming weeks. For PVC, prices have dipped slightly due to weak market demand and pressure from low-priced US PVC offers, contributing to a negative PVC price trend in the near future. Import price outlook for next week: - China: PE, PP, and PVC prices are expected to remain stable. - SEA (Southeast Asia): PE and PP prices are forecast to remain unchanged or increase by $5/ton, while PVC prices are anticipated to stay stable or drop by up to $5/ton. - SA (South Asia): PE, PP, and PVC prices are projected to remain unchanged. Price this week will increase as the last buying period 2024 from big suppliers. This week, prices remained stable as buyers awaited the final offers of 2024 from major distributors. Import demand saw a slight decline due to reduced stockpiling sentiment and the high USD exchange rate affecting import activities. Domestic traders' inventory levels are sufficient to meet manufacturers' needs during the upcoming holiday period. Import price outlook for next week: - China: PE and PP prices are expected to rise slightly by $10–15/ton, while PVC prices are likely to remain stable. - SEA (Southeast Asia): PE and PP prices are forecast to increase by $5–10/ton, with PVC prices projected to remain unchanged. - SA (South Asia): PE and PP prices are anticipated to rise by $5–10/ton, while PVC prices are expected to remain stable or decrease by $5/ton. Waiting for the ''Boom'' at the week end Dec 2024 for increased price. This week, PE and PP prices did not increase as initially expected due to buyers' concerns about rising exchange rates and significant price fluctuations anticipated in early 2025. Buyers are currently prioritizing domestic purchases to meet immediate needs. PVC prices remained stable to slightly lower, depending on the distributor, but the overall price trend remains negative. At present, market demand is low, and the availability of competitively priced supply from the USA, with shipments scheduled for January and February 2025, is influencing buyer sentiment. It is predicted that prices will remain stable next week before PE and PP prices see significant fluctuations toward the end of December, as sellers begin offering shipments for the upcoming year from major distributors. Import price outlook for next week: - China: PE and PP prices are expected to remain stable, while PVC prices may decrease by up to $5/ton. - SEA (Southeast Asia): PE, PP, and PVC prices are forecast to remain unchanged. - SA (South Asia): PE and PP prices are expected to hold steady, while PVC prices may drop by $5–10/ton.
