Since its establishment with only 60 members in 1998, the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) has grown to represent, end of 2023, almost 1,400 European businesses , including some of the world’s leading companies. With offices in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, EuroCham’s mission is to represent the business interests of its European members in Vietnam, and to improve the business environment for the benefit of all businesses. EuroCham also aims at helping Vietnamese enterprises to successfully meet the many challenges posed by the country’s ongoing global economic integration. As the lead organisation representing European business interests in Vietnam, EuroCham works in partnership with the Belgium-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (BeluxCham), the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV), The Central and Eastern European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (CEEC), the Dutch Business Association Vietnam (DBAV), the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA), the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM), the Nordic Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (NordCham), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Portugal-Vietnam (CCIPV), and Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (SCCV). EuroCham is also a member and founder of the EU-ASEAN Business Council, representing European business interests in ASEAN; as well as a founding member of the European Business Organisations (EBO) Network, which promotes the interests of European businesses in more than 40 countries across the globe. EuroCham aims to improve the ease of doing business in Vietnam, to promote and increase business between Vietnam and EU Member States, and to promote EU business interests in Vietnam.     🌟 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗧𝗣𝗖    On 21 January 2025, EuroCham Vietnam’s delegation, including Vice-Chairman Thang Xuan Nguyen, Executive Director Delphine ROUSSELET, Advocacy Manager Diep Truong, Events & Administrative Manager Nhung Nguyen, and GEFE Project Manager cum Head of Marketing & Communications Pauline Dutertre, met with leaders from the 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 (𝗜𝗧𝗣𝗖) at their office in Ho Chi Minh City.     ITPC attendees included Director Tran Phu Lu, Deputy Head of Trade Promotion Division Ho Hoang Long, Deputy Head of Investment Promotion Division Nguyen Minh Vu, and Deputy Head of Business Service Division Nguyen Thi Ngoc Linh.     𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 🔹𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀: Both ITPC and EuroCham emphasized the importance of advancing EU green standards, including CBAM and the Carbon Credit Market, with ITPC planning to move beyond raising awareness towards industry-specific implementation of the EU green standards in 2025.     🔹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: The success of GRECO 2024 and GEFE 2024 was celebrated, and ITPC invited EuroCham to collaborate on 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 (𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, offering a dedicated space for European businesses to showcase their sustainability solutions.     🔹 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: ITPC shared updates on its restructuring to improve support for businesses in HCMC and expressed openness to organizing dialogues between EuroCham and the HCMC People’s Committee to address challenges faced by businesses. Regarding government restructuring, ITPC assured that this effort aims to improve services for businesses and will not hamper FDI.     🔹 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀: EuroCham proposed a post-Lunar New Year dialogue with HCMC leadership to discuss the impact of government restructuring on business operations.     📢 [𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺’𝘀 𝗕𝗖𝗜 𝗤𝟰 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰] 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵-𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆: 𝗔 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲-𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗮𝗺 The European business community in Vietnam has expressed strong optimism following the National Assembly’s approval of Vietnam’s North-South High-Speed Railway project in November 2024 and the subsequent formation of a Task Force by the Ministry of Transport in January 2025. 🚄 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗖𝗜 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆: ‣ 𝟱𝟬%+ of respondents expect the project to have a 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 on their operations.  ‣ 𝟱𝟴% predict significant benefits for 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 and 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, with 12% anticipating a transformative impact.  ‣ 𝟯𝟳% foresee reduced regional distribution costs.  ‣ 𝟯𝟲% expect enhanced import/export connectivity. 🌟 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: The high-speed railway will revolutionize how businesses operate, improving logistics, streamlining talent attraction across regions, and unlocking sustainable growth opportunities.     💼 EuroCham Meets with HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs to Kickstart 2025     On 16 January 2025, EuroCham's Treasurer Alexander Götz, Executive Director Delphine ROUSSELET, and Advocacy Manager Diep Truong met with Mr. Pham Dut Diem, Acting Director of the HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs (DOFA), at their office in Ho Chi Minh City.     The meeting underscored the strong partnership between EuroCham and DOFA while identifying key areas of collaboration: 🔹 HCMC’s 2025 Focus Areas: Mr. Pham Dut Diem shared 3 key focus areas for HCMC in 2025, including: Developing international financial centers, advancing green and digital initiatives, and fostering growth in the semiconductor sector. DOFA called for EuroCham’s support in these areas and proposed joint trade-promotion events. 🔹 International Financial Centers: With a Politburo decision to establish international financial centers in HCMC and Da Nang by mid-2025, EuroCham proposed leveraging its Sustainable Finance Sector Committee to contribute expertise to these initiatives. 🔹 Key Business Issues: EuroCham raised concerns regarding immigration delays at Tan Son Nhat Airport and proposed solutions, including E-gates for foreign visitors and fast-track services for business travellers. The forum served as a platform for dialogue on labour mobility and recruitment opportunities between Vietnam and Finland.     In the panel discussion, EuroCham Vietnam’s Executive Director Delphine ROUSSELET provided an overview of the Vietnamese business landscape, highlighting Vietnam’s rapidly growing economy, its highly skilled workforce, and the importance of ethical and sustainable talent mobility.
