🌍 Continuing the commitment and bilateral agenda of the Netherlands and Vietnam in sustainable aquaculture development, a Business Forum on “Vietnam & the Netherlands working on practical solutions for sustainable aquaculture in the Mekong Delta” took place in Can Tho city on November 27th, 2024. 🇻🇳🤝🇳🇱 The Forum was co-chaired by Mr. Phung Duc Tien, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Mr. Daniël Stork, Consul General of the Netherlands. Under the framework of the combi-track sustainable aquaculture development in the Mekong delta, a bilateral roundtable meeting between the Netherlands and Vietnam co-chaired by Director General Tran Dinh Luan of Fisheries Department of Vietnam and Netherlands Ambassador Kees van Baar was organised on the 25th of November, 2024 in Hanoi. Director General Luan 🇻🇳 and Agricultural Counsellor Ingrid Korving 🇳🇱 moderated the discussion session. More than 50 participants and delegates from both sides actively discussed and shared their views and experiences in existing projects, programs and activites. Project Improving Quality of Tropical Fruits Vietnam funded by Netherlands Enterprise Agency , operated by MCVN, Vietnam’s Farmers Union (VNFU) and many others Dutch and Vietnamese companies closed its 3-year interventions at dragon fruit in Long An and Binh Thuan province, mango in Dong Thap province and pomelo in Ben Tre province with success. The event marks 10 years of implementing the Strategic Partnership Arrangement of Vietnam and the Netherlands in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security and witnesses the MOU signing between VNFU and Eurofins for the new cooperation, following one result of the project making soil testing affordable and reliable in Vietnam. 🌍 Exciting Collaboration Between Lam Dong and Westland! 🇻🇳🇳🇱 Last week, a Vietnamese delegation from Lam Dong was in Westland, focusing on signing a Letter of Intent (LOI). Earlier this year, in March, Mayor Bouke Arends visited Vietnam in an Economic Mission to lay the groundwork for this important agreement. The Westland greenhouse horticulture cluster and representatives from Lam Dong were primarily discussing knowledge exchange and exploring ways to assist Vietnamese governments and businesses in elevating their horticultural practices. Vietnam is eager to invest in its food supply and is seeking technologies, products, and innovations for efficient cultivation. Westland companies have the solutions to support these goals. 🍅🥒🌿 Mayor Arends signed the agreement during a special seminar at the World Horti Center.
