Before coming to the shelter, I worried that the kids would ignore me so I came up with many ideas to attract their attention. However, they were the first one to say hello and they smiled at me. From that moment, I was ready to let down my guard. When I got closer to these kids, I was surprised by their optimistic attitudes toward life. Despite undergoing hardship, these little brothers still treated the volunteers like buddies with an open heart. Their kindness teaches me that the perspective is mine to choose, whatever the situation. Since then, I had more motivation to give a hand to others, to help others overcome fear and depression. The sweetest thing about this journey is that it makes me believe that I can always contribute more and make a positive impact on the world.
