At a recent forum held during the Vietnam Motor Show in Ho Chi Minh City, experts highlighted the benefits of green transportation as a crucial step toward a more sustainable future. The forum, titled Reducing Emissions from Transportation and Green Energy Transition Towards Environmental Protection, brought together green energy experts and industry pioneers to discuss the rising trend of electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid solutions. These green vehicles aim to reduce air pollution by either fully or partially replacing internal combustion engines with electric power. 💚In Vietnam, fully electric vehicles, with zero emissions, are seen as an ideal solution for clean transportation, while hybrids and clean fuels also contribute to lowering harmful emissions. However, challenges such as limited charging infrastructure still need to be addressed to support widespread adoption. Government support, combined with growing consumer demand, is expected to drive the development of Vietnam’s EV market. Additionally, advanced fuel standards like Euro 5 are playing an important role by reducing toxic emissions from traditional vehicles and improving air quality. Organized by the French Chamber of Commerce (CCIFV), the “France Sequence” saw top French companies, including Michelin, Artelia, and CMA CGM, showcasing initiatives that align with Vietnam’s sustainability goals. French companies unveiled a variety of projects—from Michelin’s commitment to using renewable materials in tire production, to Artelia’s urban emissions-reduction initiatives, to CMA CGM’s promotion of electric mobility. Notably, GreenYellow, which has been active in Vietnam since 2020, has invested over 100 million euros in solar energy, reducing CO₂ emissions equivalent to planting 3.3 million trees annually. Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized the need for green growth through public-private collaboration, highlighting green technology, energy, and eco-conscious lifestyles as central to economic development. He also urged the EU to enhance sustainable trade, support green supply chains, and help Vietnam build expertise in carbon credit markets, renewable energy, and sustainable agriculture. The forum provided a platform for Vietnamese and EU leaders to discuss policies and strategies for areas like energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and the circular economy, all working toward the mutual goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. EuroCham Chairman Bruno Jaspaert pointed out that the EU’s role as a primary trade partner brings substantial opportunities for green investments in Vietnam.
