A policy roundtable on ending violence against women and children in Viet Nam was organized for Viet Nam, Australia and the United Nations to discuss optimal strategies towards this agenda. Micaela Cronin, the Australian Commissioner for Family, Domestic, and Sexual Violence, UN Resident Coordinator in Viet Nam Pauline Tamesis, UNFPA in Viet Nam Representative Matt Jackson, UNICEF in Viet Nam Representative Silvia Danailov, UN Women in Viet Nam Representative Caroline Nyamayemombe, were among those in presence along Government counterparts. “Behind every statistic of violence is a woman or child with a story, a voice, and the right to be safe and respected. What makes the biggest difference is listening to those with lived experience and ensuring their insights shape the policies and services designed to protect them,” said Micaela Cronin, Australian Commissioner for Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence at the event. UNICEF staff and United Nations Viet Nam agencies at the Green One UN House were living up to our mandate for sustainable development today by taking action to promote sustainable consumption. We organised a festive garage sale featuring stalls contributed by UN staff and social enterprises that support children with disabilities, creating a space to reuse, recycle and learn about climate resilience. Funds collected from the event will go entirely to a good cause.
