📈 GLOBAL MARKET FLUCTUATES WHILE DOMESTIC COFFEE PRICES SURGE TO 2,200 VND/KG On Friday morning, coffee prices in key Central Highlands provinces continued to rise compared to the previous session, ranging between 132,000 – 133,000 VND/kg, with an average of 132,900 VND/kg. In 2025, La Niña is expected to replace El Niño, bringing much-needed rain but also posing risks of frost in Brazil. Supply and demand remain key factors in sustaining high prices. Strong demand from major importers such as the EU and the US, along with the rising influence of emerging markets like China, will be crucial drivers for coffee price growth. 👉 With current price increases, many roasters and coffee shop chains are struggling with potential supply disruptions, cash flow challenges, and business interruptions. 📈 Coffee Prices Today: Back to an Uptrend Amid Supply Concerns After last night's and early morning trading session, both Robusta and Arabica coffee prices rebounded. Specifically: ▶️ London Exchange: Robusta coffee futures for March 2025 rose to $5,558/ton, up $24/ton from the previous session. The May 2025 contract increased by $28/ton to $5,548/ton. ▶️ New York Exchange: Arabica coffee futures for March 2025 reached 383.35 cents/lb, up 2.45 cents/lb from the previous day. The May 2025 contract rose 3.05 cents/lb to 377.40 cents/lb. 🔎 Why are coffee prices rising? Reports indicate that Brazil’s Arabica production is expected to drop by 12.4%, equivalent to 34.7 million bags in 2025, due to extreme heat and drought affecting flowering and yield. High shipping costs and severe port congestion in Brazil are also making logistics more challenging, pushing global coffee prices higher. 📉 Domestic Coffee Prices Today, Vietnam's domestic coffee prices fell across all regions, ranging from 127,200 – 128,200 VND/kg. However, prices are expected to recover slightly in line with global trends, and they remain at historic highs. Farmers holding coffee stocks can be optimistic about potentially selling at even better prices in the future. 🚢 Market Outlook The return of Vietnam’s coffee supply after the long Lunar New Year holiday may lead to increased selling, putting downward pressure on Robusta prices.
