WHAT DO EXPERTS SAY ABOUT THE RECORD FDI CAPITAL OF 36.6 BILLION USD INVESTED IN VIETNAM IN 2023? Amidst market fluctuations due to the global economic downturn, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Vietnam remains robust, witnessing a remarkable increase of 32.1% compared to last year, reaching over USD 36.6 billion (Foreign Investment Agency - Ministry of Planning and Investment). Notably, newly registered capital reached nearly USD 20.19 billion, a surge of 62.2%, and the number of newly registered projects amounted to 3,188, reflecting a 56.6% increase. Experts attribute this record-breaking FDI inflow into Vietnam in 2023 as the result of the companionship of the Government and the Prime Minister, along with close coordination with ministries, branches, and localities to proactively approach, grasp and remove legal barriers. A prime example is the active implementation of administrative procedure simplification in many localities, such as the establishment of a single-window mechanism in industrial zones, enabling businesses to assess the operational capacity of departments and sectors and conduct procedures online. The increased number of projects also affirms investors' confidence in Vietnam's investment environment. Vietnam is consistently highly regarded for its stable political and security situation, serving as the foundation for long-term investment activities. A notable highlight is the surge in investment in the processing and manufacturing sector, with total invested capital exceeding USD 23.5 billion, constituting 64.2% of the total registered capital and marking a 39.9% increase compared to the same period.
