The AMD Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs are now nearing their one-year launch cycle. They hit retail back in the first half of 2023 and have been very popular options among gamers, especially the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which is one of the best-selling gaming chips across all X3D and even the entire current available CPU options. It has outsold the entire Intel 13th and 14th Gen lineup and continues to be the main attraction that can pull AM4 owners to the newer AM5 socket.

Also, the recent 2027+ AM5 commitment will push even more AM4 users to think twice about sticking to their older platform or switching to the newer one which has received support for Zen 5-powered Ryzen 9000 CPUs.

But it looks like things are about to change. While AMD will be launching the Ryzen 9000 "Zen 5" CPUs for AM5 desktops in July (hard launch), it looks like the company is already prepping for its next-gen 3D V-Cache chips as the Ryzen 9000X3D series. These chips have been teased to feature some cool upgrades and more options. In our previous report, we mentioned that the X3D Zen 5 lineup is aiming for the late Q3 or early Q4 launch window and it looks like Club386 seems to agree with this.

Our source on the Computex show floor tells us AMD plans to launch 9000X3D processors in September. This matches the staggered release of X870E motherboards that we anticipate will arrive the same month. There’s no hard indication of which CPUs will arrive first, but an educated guess from historical releases suggests it’ll likely start with Ryzen 9 9950X3D and possibly Ryzen 9 9900X3D.

It is stated by the source that AMD will be introducing its Ryzen 9000X3D "3D V-cache" CPUs in late Q3 (September) which is two months after the launch of the Non-X3D SKUs. It will be interesting if this is an actual retail launch or announcement but regardless, AM5 builders won't have to wait too long to get their hands on the newest 3D V-Cache parts.

Also, it looks like retailers and partners are aware of this upcoming launch and have as such cut prices of all existing Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs. Starting with the details, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D is now available for as low as $499 US which is a 28.6% price drop versus the MSRP. The Ryzen 9 7900X3D has also seen a big discount and is available for just $329 US, a -45% drop versus MSRP. Lastly, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D which launched at $449 US is now occasionally available for around $300 US and the current lowest is $319 which is a -41% drop versus its original MSRP.

These are some great discounts for the existing AMD Ryzen 7000X3D 3D V-Cache CPUs and we look forward to what AMD will have in its pockets with the upcoming Ryzen 9000X3D 3D V-Cache CPUs. As of right now, the benchmarks shared by AMD showcase up to 23% improvement in games versus the Intel Core i9-14900K.

So you can take that as a baseline and add another hefty 15-20% (or more) improvement with the 3D V-Cache variants which will truly be a fierce chip going up against Intel's Arrow Lake CPUs which are planned for launch in October. Intel will have to do some extra work to make sure that they aren't just competitive against the Ryzen 9000 CPUs but also the Ryzen 9000X3D chips, both of which should be available before Intel's release on their new LGA 1851 socketed platform on the 800-series motherboards.
