Samsung has concluded the launch of the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10 Plus, with the company expected to release the three brand new models very soon. While several critics might immediately snub the Galaxy S10e as a ‘cheap’ handset, it is far more premium than you’re being led on. Here is our exclusive hands-on with the Galaxy S10e Canary Yellow and let us see why Samsung decided to announce this for the masses.
Right off the bat, the Canary Yellow offering will catch you off guard thanks to its striking appearance and don’t get us wrong, Samsung knew that this model would be taking on the iPhone XR, which is why it features the unique color. A side pose of the smartphone shows that the device does not feature curved edges and despite that, it oozes with a premium look.
There’s no plastic anywhere on the phone, so future customers and critics can get rid of the notion that there’s anything ‘cheap’ about the Galaxy S10e. It also sports a glass back, giving it wireless charging capabilities, along with those side metal rails that give the device more durability. Of course, glass on both sides means the smartphone will not just be a fingerprint magnet, but it will be as slippery as a bar of soap, so strapping a phone cover looks to be the best way to mitigate fingerprints and obtain a terrific grip of the device.
In the next side pose, you can see that the Galaxy S10e features a power button that also doubles as a fingerprint reader. For one thing, thanks to the smaller 5.8-inch display, the fingerprint reader will be easier to access and unlock the home screen. Sure, the in-screen fingerprint reader would have been a nice addition, but if you’ve noticed before, conventional scanners are faster, unlocking your device in a jiffy and before you can blink twice.
At $750 however, some customers might feel uncomfortable splurging that amount of cash on a device that’s labeled ‘cheap’. At $900, the Galaxy S10 sounds more like a winner for a lot of folks, even though the latter is practically a step away from entering the iPhone X pricing territory. Regardless, the Galaxy S10e is still a great fit for those that want to venture into the flagship space, with Samsung being their first preference.
