Gigabyte has rolled out a new BETA BIOS for its AM5 motherboards based on the AMD AGESA 1.1.0.1a firmware which adds more robust support for the upcoming Ryzen 8000G "Hawk Point" APUs.
Gigabyte Shows Its AM5 Platform Readiness For Upcoming Ryzen 8000G "Hawk Point" APUs With New AMD AGESA 1.1.0.1a BIOS Firmware
Gigabyte was the first motherboard manufacturer to confirm the existence of the AMD Ryzen 8000G "Hawk Point" APUs when it mentioned it in the release highlights for its new 1.1.0.1 BIOS firmware. Since then, other motherboard makers have also followed suit and offered their own AGESA 1.1.0.1 BIOS releases for the AM5 motherboard lineup, aiming at all three chipsets (X670, B650, & A620).
Now, Gigabyte has released a newer version of AM5 BIOS for its motherboards which is based on the AMD AGESA 1.1.0.1a firmware. The release is likely the first of many patches that we can expect to see before the release of the Ryzen 8000G APUs. The new BIOS is mostly tagged under the F21a & FA2a naming for each respective motherboard. The BIOS also comes with an updated SMU for the Hawk Point family which has been updated from 76.75.0 to 76.78.0. As always, it is advised to stick with your current BIOS and only switch to a newer one unless there is a major update or you are facing issues with your current BIOS. There will be several updates till we get AMD Ryzen 8000G "Hawk Point" APUs which are scheduled for launch by the end of January so its better to wait for the latest BIOS that's available around the time of release since that will be offering the best and most stable support for the new chips on the AM5 platform.
