iOS 19 and other updates already under development for release next year

iOS 18 was announced only a few weeks ago, and the final release is slated to take place later this year. However, based on recent reports, Apple has already started working on its next-gen update for the iPhone and the rest of the product line. iOS 19 could potentially be unveiled at the company's 2025 WWDC event, announcing further enhancements to the AI features and much more.

Apple has already begun development of iOS 19 and other updates with Apple Intelligence upgrades, more

In his latest Power On newsletter, analyst Mark Gurman states that Apple has already started working on iOS 19, watchOS 12, macOS 16, and visionOS 3 software updates, which will be released by the end of next year to developers and the general public. Apple is quite quick to start working on the next generation of its hardware or software, despite the fact that the company is still working on publicly releasing iOS 18 and making it more stable.

The analyst claims that Apple has formally begun developing its next major update for the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and more. He also shared codenames for the forthcoming software, with iOS 19 reportedly codenamed "Luck," macOS 16 named "Cheer," watchOS 12 codenamed "Nepali," and visionOS 3 named "Discovery."

Since Apple has already started the development of its forthcoming iOS 19 and other updates, we can presume that the announcement and release will be on time next year. However, it also depends if iOS 18 will be a stable build, which could have an impact on the release of iOS 19. This is because Apple had to stop working on iOS 18 last year to fix bugs in iOS 17, and we hope Apple releases the upcoming update without major issues.

As for the features, the analyst did not detail the list of features that will be part of iOS 19. However, we can presume that the company will upgrade its Apple Intelligence features and introduce visual changes on the customization front. Possibly, iOS 19 will house features that will be dedicated to hardware Apple will introduce next year, such as the iPhone 17 lineup and new Apple Watch models.

Gurman also stated that Vision Pro could gain Apple Intelligence features next year, which could mean that Apple will reorganize software resources to better manage the hardware capabilities of the headset. It is too early to speculate though, so be sure to take the news with a grain of salt. What are your expectations from iOS 19? Let us know in the comments.
