Galaxy Z Fold 6 leaked prototype reveals design

Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked 2024 has been getting a lot of attention because of the promising product releases of the upcoming event. While the company will announce a handful of devices at the event, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 seem to be in the limelight. Earlier, leaked images of the dummy unit gave away the design for Fold 6 and confirmed the leaked renders of the phone. Now, new photos have emerged that give us a sneak peek of the device.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 prototype shows a boxier design and sleeker look compared to the Fold 5

The latest images by @UniverseIce on X (formerly Twitter) showcased the Galaxy Z Fold 6 prototype unit and compared it with its predecessor. The purpose of the comparison was to highlight the significant changes coming with the new series. Users have long demanded a wider screen and for the phone's thickness to be reduced as the current Fold is quite chunky compared to the competition. In the recent images, you can see the improvements Samsung has brought with its sixth-generation Fold series.

In contrast to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the upcoming variant is said to support a sharper look. The corners and frame are squared, making the overall design boxier. With flatter sides, the device seems to be more symmetrical and has a more modern design and form factor.

One major issue highlighted with Fold 5 was the very apparent and thick hinge that would now be trimmed down. The upcoming design helps overlook the hinge by making it less obvious, and there seems to be less space between the panel and the hinge, which makes the device more durable, as fewer dust particles would enter through it.

The leaked images also reveal that the back camera of the Fold 6 will be redesigned, which will be easily noticeable. The individual camera sensors are now flat against the camera plateau instead of protruding out of it. There is also a volume button followed by a fingerprint scanner located on the right side of the device.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 is slated to be announced at a July 10th event, and the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for better CPU and GPU gains over last year's foldables. The chip is custom-built for the Galaxy lineup and could bolster the company's upcoming Galaxy AI features. The device would sport 12GB RAM and come with three storage options: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.  The upgraded version would potentially start at $1,899 for the base model and could include some major Galaxy AI integration, which is one of the reasons for the price hike.
