The YouTube channel ‘Transparency Bodycam’ uploaded a video on December 15 with the title ‘Marques Brownlee Gets Pulled Over and Ticketed Multiple Times.’ The traffic violations compilation shows that MKBHD has been stopped by the authorities on not one, but three separate occasions, with the oldest incident dated June 30, 2023, and the recent one happening on August 11, 2024. The first offense involved Marques getting pulled over in a Tesla, with the EV sporting a heavy tint on the mirrors.
The video reveals that MKBHD did not have his driver’s license with him, but after identity verification, he was let go. On June 16, 2024, the YouTuber was stopped for driving his car at a speed of 59MPH in a 25MPH zone, but the female police officer decided to cut some slack for Marques and let him off with a citation for ‘unclear plates,’ which resulted in a small fine of $55. As for the third violation, Marques was cited on his plates once again when a police officer stopped him at a gas station.
This string of offenses hints at the obvious; MKBHD does not adhere to traffic rules all that much, which is a sign of worry because, with millions of subscribers, the YouTuber holds some degree of influence over his followers.
