MSI Claw 8 AI+ “A2VM” Handheld Is Now Bigger, More Powerful & Equipped With Intel Lunar Lake

MSI has unveiled its next-gen gaming handheld, the Claw 8 AI+ "A2VM" which features the more powerful Intel Lunar Lake CPUs.

MSI Updates Its Claw Handheld With Intel Lunar Lake, Claw 8 AI+ A2VM Now Bigger & Much Faster Than Original Claw

MSI unveiled its Claw gaming handheld back at CES 2024 and launched it a couple of months ago but now, the company is preparing for the next-gen version of Claw, the Claw 8 AI+ A2VM which is powered by the more powerful Intel Lunar Lake CPUs featuring the latest CPU cores and Xe2 "Battlemage" graphics.

According to MSI, the Claw 8 AI+ A2VM featured an Intel Lunar Lake SOC which is designed specifically for thin and light PC and handheld platforms such as this gaming product. MSI isn't sharing which specific version of Lunar Lake is running under the hood but we know that the Lunar Lake SOCs feature up to 8 cores (4P + 4E), up to 8 Xe2 GPU cores, and a powerful NPU with up to 48 TOPs of AI processing power.

Other specifications of the MSI Claw 8 AI+ A2VM gaming handheld include the Windows 11 OS and an 8" FHD (1920x1080) screen with a maximum refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and support for VRR, touch, 500 nits of brightness and an IPS-level panel design.

In terms of cooling, MSI has equipped its next-generation Claw gaming handheld with the Cooler Boost HyperFlow cooling technology which adopts two fans and 2 heat pipes design which should enable the device to run at its full performance with optimal temperatures that are great for a device of this shape. It should also come with a larger battery for more playtime. Design-wise, the MSI Claw 8 AI+ A2VM has been updated to a bigger chassis but retains an ergonomic design for long-session comfort, and the new advanced hall effect joysticks and triggers ensure an exceptional gaming experience.

Finally, MSI will be updating its MSI Center M software suite with a new tailored interface designed specifically for handheld platforms and it will also offer a fully customizable Quick Settings menu with advanced Macros. MSI isn't sharing the price or release date yet but we can expect more information closer to the launch of Lunar Lake which is by late Q3 2024.

In addition to the new Claw 8, MSI also showcased the original Claw gaming handheld with Intel Meteor Lake "Core Ultra" CPUs in the Fallout revision which was seen running Fallout 4. The new variant is already up for sale.
