A crowdfunding campaign has been launched for the family of Bonnye Lear, a Club 33 manager who passed away after falling from a golf cart backstage at Disneyland Resort.

Bonnye Lear: a woman with long red hair, smiling, wearing a dark jacket and a hoop earring, stands in front of a light-colored wall indoors.

Sara Linton organized the GoFundMe campaign on behalf of the Lear family. Linton stated, “Due to the unfortunate circumstances that the Lear family has had to face, they are seeking funds for any costs associated with the rectification of this tragic accident including cremation, memorial service, a strong legal team to seek justice for her death, and any other unexpected costs. Bonnye’s 3 children have been faced with unimaginable hurdles and could use a lot of support in these trying times.”

“Known for her kind, gentle soul and loving personality,” Linton wrote, “Bonnye Lear would light up a room with a level of professionalism that was unmatched. She was a firework and spread her light to all of those around her with enthusiasm and grace.

Lear fell from a golf cart backstage behind Critter Country at Disneyland Resort on June 5. She was seriously injured and transported to a hospital, where she passed away on June 7.

Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock said, “We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye and offer our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her. At this time, we are focused on supporting her family and our cast members through this tragic event and making sure they have the resources they need.”

Lear was a Senior Guest Services Manager at Club 33, a private VIP lounge in New Orleans Square at Disneyland. She had worked at Disneyland Resort for 24 years in guest services, special activities, and travel agency positions.

The Anaheim Police Department and Cal/OSHA are still investigating Lear’s death.
