Crews continue to add to the new building on the edge of the Universal Studios Florida lagoon ahead of the premiere of “CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular” this month. Work on the structure began with a new platform before a building took shape.
Lagoon Show Structure
The concrete building is now approximately split into two sections. Crews have now added two sets of curved steel and supports that form the framework of two rooftops.
The rooftop on the right (when looking across the lagoon) also has box-shaped frames in a row down the center. Matching elements may be added to the other rooftop later.
The front of the right side also has the steel framework of an awning, with a concrete wall on the left side.
Scaffolding is in front of the left side of the building. We saw several crew members on site, including one working on top of the scaffolding.
A concrete staircase leads to a platform closer to the waterline. Yellow tubing in the water keeps debris from floating into the rest of the lagoon.
Behind the building, we could see more crew members. A row of rebar sticks up from the edge of the building.

“CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular” is a new lagoon show that will “celebrate the emotional power of music by leveraging the iconic scores and scenes from blockbuster films that have inspired Universal Orlando’s past, present, and future attractions.” Featured IPs include “Harry Potter,” “Jurassic World,” “Jaws,” “Shrek,” “Ghostbusters,” “Trolls,” “Back to the Future,” “Universal Monsters,” “Transformers,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” “E.T.,” “Fast and Furious,” “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” “Minions,” “The Mummy,” and “King Kong.” The nighttime spectacular will use over 600 drones, 228 fountains, and 4K projection mapping.
Universal Orlando Resort has not had a nighttime lagoon show since 2022. The Halloween Horror Nights show “Ghoulish: A Halloween Tale” was canceled after a hurricane damaged the lagoon’s projectors. In 2023, Universal announced that “Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration” would not return.
