Bought this to replace an aging dashcam that turned a weird bronze color in the sunlight.

The lack of on-camera controls isn't a problem at all. The Goluk app is very functional and crash-free, despite it trying to disguise itself as some sort of social network. The camera will report, audibly, if there's any problem with recording, so you know immediately how to fix whatever issue presents itself. Importantly for me, it runs off of a USB port instead of a 12v port; most modern Fords will power the 12v port constantly, so the USB plug (which powers off after ~30 seconds) is a blessing.

The included 3M adhesive mount is terrific, just make sure to commit to your mounting point. All of my previous dashcams were afflicted with awful suction cup mounts that continually failed under high heat. This is holding steady. God forbid a crash happens, this thing will stay planted whereas my previous dashcams would likely end up smashing me in the face.

The video quality is just fine. There's a yellowish tinge to the video under direct sunlight, but it's not problematic enough to muddle any detail or sharpness. Don't look for GoPro-quality video or exposure/white balance metering at this price point. If anything, Goluk might be able to patch this as a white balance fix in later firmware updates -- which, by the way, are done seamlessly over WiFi.

I've no use for the little button thingy. It records constantly, loops over old files, and is perfectly functional. Five stars.

Please fix the Android app to NOT use the Hotspot in order to establish connection to the camera , my android phone's hotspot is locked down by the carrier (Sprint), the app refuse to connect the camera without hotspot feature working. The dashcam can render useless if you cannot establish connection to it.

The iphone app only requires wireless connection and it was a breeze to set it up. iphone app does not require Hotspot feature enabled and I do not understand why Android app needs this.

    The Good:
    - tiny size, smaller than 0806.
    - good to see parking mode implemented from a Chinese brand.
    - excellent image quality.

    The Bad:
    - fix the Android app to stop enforcing Hotspot/Tether feature on the phone.

    Suggestions:
    - allows more tweak on the parking_mode & parking_security mode, e.g. select-able time to sleep, length of motion/vibration recording.

    Bottom Line:
    - if you are a iphone user, go for it, but Andorid user, please wait until Goluk fix their App issue.

    Update [7/9/2016]:
Android app v1.0.4.10 now will timeout while trying to creating a hotspot, then have a option allowing you to select to use Wifi to connect to camera. I would suggest to allow user to use select Wifi or Hotspot directly without waiting for Hotspot creation to time. After selecting Wifi, connection still seems problematic:
    1) On Nexus 6p (android N preview build NPD56N) using Wifi connection: the app would exit the camera live view window after about few seconds after it shows the "connected" popup message and back to the main menu with another popup message says "Network error, please check your connection". Note the Wifi was connected to the dashcam the whole time, maybe will try how app behave on Android 6 when I get the chance.
    2) On Moto E 2015 (android 5.1) using Wifi connection: the app would stuck in the Live View windows with system message pop up saying app isn't responding, do you want to report, wait or close it. I've reported this problem and send system log on the phone, hopefully their tech will address this issue soon.

    Update[Jul/13/2016]:
Android App 1.1.0.12 now connects to Camera via Wifi directly without trying to use Hotspot, Tried on both Nexus 6P and Moto E 2015, I could see the Live View video feed and configure dashcam setting without any issue now. Thanks Goluk for the quick App update, bumped 3 stars to 4 stars.

The best thing about this is:

    1. Ease of use & easy to mount.
    2. Sync with phone app via WiFi for easy viewing.
    3. Small enough to fit behind the rear view mirror.
    4. Sensitive enough to start recording any type of shock and it is adjustable.

It has already paid for itself when I got into an accident early this month. I showed the video to the cop without having to explain anything to prove that it was not my fault when the other driver cut me off and hit my car. It has been reliable so far in the Summer heat. I have yet to test out the parking mode since it will required a backup battery to function without draining your car battery.

I would recommend this over other dash-cam that are more expensive, those that comes with many features that you will probably never use or need. It is also important to know that this unit will only record 16 seconds video segment, 8 seconds before the shock, and 8 seconds after. If you want a longer recording, this unit is not for you.

If you read the negative reviews you will see there are multiple complaint about the same issue and sure enough I am having the same issue! The support options are completely useless and the company does not stand behind their product. I receive memory card failure warnings every time it turns on, and trust me the memory card is fine I swapped it with my go pro multiple times and it works fine in my go Pro and computer. Firmware is updated and still same issues, other buyers complained of the same problem! Don’t waste your money! video quality is great but doesn’t matter if the camera doesn’t work!
