Real nice
Installed this unit with 2 pair Kenwood 709 PS component speakers, a KAC 7005 Amp and a SW 11 subwoofer in my Chevy colorado. The sound is top quality. Paired with the iPhone 6s flawlessly. A couple of installation tips. I have an extended cab Colorado..Do yourself a favor , take the interior out and pull the carpet. It's only 10 bolts and 4 nuts. took about an hour by myself. Run new speaker wire, the stock wire sounded pretty bad. Make sure you ground this unit, amp and sub to BARE metal. I did have to install filters at the RCA jacks to the rear of the unit. Made a ton of noise...Now i'm hands free for everything in the vehicle. For about 800.00$ it sounds better than the two more expensive systems i am familiar with..And with the cap on the pickup the rearview camera is a no brainer, hooking up the boat trailer has never been easier...

2002 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 Crew Cab - So far, very happy with this unit. FYI, I installed this in my 2002 but had to update the factory bezel to a 2003 model year. In 2002 my truck came with 1.5 DIN opening and in 2003 they changed the bezel & radio cradle to accept a Double Din. You can purchase these off other websites used or purchase a new one that is NOT OEM but aftermarket kit from Cartronics on Amazon. Linke Below. The aftermarket kit did not get great fit reviews, so I went used and found one that was same color. Others have complained about the display being dim on this unit, since my Silverado has the Radio on the Drivers side face the driver at an angle, I have had no issues. If you have a vehicle where the radio sits in the center of the dash, this may be a problem. Some units have a screen that allows you to tilt the front display which would help that issue. If you have an older vehicle that still mounts the radio towards the drivers side of the dash, I don't think you will have any issues with the brightness of the display. With all newer units, this one has a ton of features so takes a little bit of time to figure things out, but works great. I also added a rear View Camera from Chasoon. Works great and will help a lot when I am trying to hook up a trailer by myself. I get a clear view of my hitch ball with this camera mounted on the license plate frame. I wired in the reverse wire on the Kenwood so when I put my truck in reverse, the screen on my Kenwood automatically displays the camera view. You can also push and hold a button on the unit which will change to camera view at any time. I also plugged into my amp and two 12-Inch subs behind my rear seat. I also played with the Apple Car Play feature. I plugged in my iPhone 6 and the screen on my Kenwood changed to the familiar apple icons. I really like being able to do handsfree commands using SIRI. When I get a text message to my iPhone, it will alert me on the Kenwood and asks me if I want to hear the message? The voice recognition is good and the play back voice reading my texts is good as well. Overall this is a good unit at a decent below $400 price tag. Most others with Apple Car Play are $800 and up. So although this may not be the greatest unit, it works for me considering the price range. Without my Subs plugged in, the bass is fair but if you hook a subwoofer up, then this unit really shines.

Apple CarPlay doesn't work barely, I had this system installed professionally Aug 9, 2016 and it only worked twice. I have tried 5 different IPhones and still the same black blank screen. I will be returning this after I pay someone to take it out. Also the auto dimmer don't work so the screen in sun is impossible to see and I must change the screen display in order to see it in the day and at night.

What I like: radio reception and interface is easy to navigate. DVD works well. Back up camera works well. Menus are reasonably easy to navigate.

Issues: no way to scroll through presets using my steering wheel controls on my Dodge Magnum.?? Using a PAC interface. Pioneer units will do this but not Kenwood??

Biggest issue....Car Play will not play audio for phone calls or reading texts. The major reason I wanted car Play was for this. Phone audio works fine over Bluetooth. Called Kenwood tech support. No help. Asked me to try multiple phones and cords. I did this. Did not work. They want me to send it to them for repair. I am not looking forward to uninstalling or being without a radio for weeks while they try to repair.

The Kenwood DDX6702s was a great upgrade for the 2000 maxima. The CarPlay integration works flawlessly. The cable is required for CarPlay to work but hopefully the future will bring a firmware upgrade to connect via Bluetooth. If Apple is listening, adding WAZE functionality would be a HUGE upgrade to Apple maps.

It took me a few minutes to figure out but my iPhone was able to connect (non CarPlay) via Bluetooth to stream audio as well as answer/make phone calls. The sound quality is not as good as the CarPlay cable connect but BT connectivity is a convenience.

I mentioned WAZE above, it should be noted that WAZE audio will steam through the stereo whether connected via BT or CarPlay. I often times connect my phone via CarPlay and access WAZE for GPS functionality. The audio interrupts the streamed music flawlessly. I prop my phone up on the console to get visual directions.

Some have complained about screen dimness. I concur that whilst wearing polarized lenses the screen is super dim. So if you're in a sunny climate and wear Maui Jims. The screen may not work for you. Me I'm from the northwest so the annoyance of a dim screen is not much of a problem.

For those wondering how to stream BT audio. First connect the phone via BT. No issues with my iPhone 6. Then find the top menu and hit the "all sources" button. Hit Bluetooth and select your device. You need to adjust your device settings and turn BT audio on using the kenwood touchpad. You should now be able to stream your audio via BT.

For the money this is a good/great CarPlay enabled deck with decent sound quality.
