Even if you follow Miss Mustard Seed's blog, which I do, this book has tons of gorgeous photos not seen on her blog. Miss Mustard Seed has the most wonderful decorating taste and a keen eye for beauty. She writes with her usual down-to-earth style and keeps it real about expectations. The tutorials are wonderfully done and she takes us through the step-by-step process of how she transformed her own house into a lovely home. As always, her photography really captures the feel for her displays of items such as white ironstone, old books, and grainsack upholstery. There's also inside tips for bargain hunting which Miss Mustard Seed shares with the reader. Her transformations taking a worn out dresser to painted piece of art are stunning. Not only a good read, it's a great book to keep handy for inspiration for your own home.

Beautiful photography blends well with Marian's philosophy of accessible decorating. Instead of speaking in lofty terms, she makes the reader feel capable of transforming her home. Pictures not previously seen on her blog, as well as faith-filled, encouraging writing make this book a must-have. As a blogger herself, the author is aware of the pressure that some women feel to have "magazine-worthy" homes, and much of this book addresses that pressure in a gentle yet direct way. I pre-ordered the book as soon as It was available for pre-order here on Amazon. When it arrived I got to sit down and read it from cover to cover and look at the amazing pictures. I have to say that it is FABULOUS! I've been a huge fan of Miss Mustard Seed and what she does for a long time and have followed her blog for a long while as well. While her talent is incredible and what she envisions for a piece is amazing, I was most impressed with the heart she pours into this book. It is truly inspiring to hear how she approaches things in life and, the gentle reminders she placed in the book to keep focus on what is truly important. It is such a blessing. For me this book truly lives up to its title.

I decided to buy this book after watching Marian's great videos on making your own slipcovers. I love Marian's style and down to earth personality. I just received my copy yesterday and have already read half of it. I had to share how wonderful this book is. It has far exceeded my expectations.

I would classify myself as a moderate DIY personality. I love decorating my home, refinishing and painting furniture, embroidery, sewing, etc. but these are not skills I have had throughout my 44 years. Many of these skills I have taught myself in the last 5-10 years

Marian's book is perfect for both the beginner and someone like myself who has been decorating for awhile but needs some ongoing encouragement. Her book is honestly better than any decorating book I have read.

In the past when I have purchased decorating books they are typically full of lovely pictures and even some small projects you can take on yourself but they can be boring to read. What makes this book special is that Marian is very real and down to earth and women can relate to her. She is humble and discusses how to realistically make your home beautiful on a tight budget. She actually shows photos of her home both staged and in its realistic state, you know the same home we all live in, the one with laundry and paper piles. Because of how Marian's has chose to write this book; like a letter written to a close girlfriend or inspirational message versus solely an instruction manual, makes it very hard to put down.

I love how Marian's book shows examples of budget friendly projects and step by step instructions how to refinish and paint furniture using both milk and chalk paint. I really enjoy how she continually encourages other by sharing that her home was made lovely over time while managing her roles as mother, wife, business owner and staying involved in her church and community. She periodically discusses the encouragement she received herself from family. I also enjoy how she discusses making your home comfortable and not just picture perfect.

I hope in the future I can share my passions and inspire others as Marian has. She is truly a blessing and talented decorator.

As many of the reviewers for this book I too am a follower of Miss Mustard Seed's Blog and I was excited to hear that she was publishing a book. I enjoyed the book (it was a quick and easy read) - I just wish it had a few more project ideas. Since she is known for redoing and refurbishing vintage finds I thought the book would be more a "how to" or at the very least give more direction on how the reader can accomplish this kind of creativity in their own lives and home. I guess unlike some of the other reviewers I was less interested in her personal life (especially her dislike for laundry) and more interested in her creative process. But perhaps her creativity isn't something that can be taught - she does have a keen eye and a wonderful style that are reflected in the photos of her home. This book would be great for a person who is a beginner crafter or who lacks confidence in their own decorating style - she does a great job of encouraging individuality and instilling a sense that your home can be an expression of YOUR personal likes and not be a cookie-cutter imitation of everyone elses home.
