Verizon couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2011. They finally have the Apple Iphone 4 after of years of speculation, they’ve launched their lightning fast 4G LTE network, and now will begin rolling out their newest lineup of smartphones. Heres is a breakdown of a few Android phones expected to hit big red in the coming months.
We’ll Kick things off with the, still not released, Thunderbolt from HTC. This is a beast of a phone featuring a 4.3 inch display, the latest HTC Sense UI(2.0) and 8 megapixel Camera with Dual LED Flash. As the first 4G phone set to hit Verizon, HTC pulled out all the stops. With a front-facing camera, kickstand, and great aluminum unibody build, the Thunderbolt is far from an entry level device. Despite it’s lack of a dual core processor, you are given a 1GHZ Hummingbird processor with 768mb of RAM which will allow for some blazingly fast browsing and gaming.

Next up, the HTC Incredible 2. Though not announced, it is expected to simply be the North American twin of the UK’s HTC Incredible S. The Incredible by HTC was one of the top smartphones of 2010, how do they top it? Keep the same, dare-to-be-different, race car inspired design, bump the screen size to 4 inches and throw on a front facing camera just for fun. The Incredible 2 has already been spotted in Verizon’s inventory system and an announcement is expected soon.

Say hello to the Droid Bionic. You like fast? How about the speed of Verizon 4G and the processing power of a 1GHZ Tegra-2 DUAL CORE processor. This phone can do it all. Multi task without any lag, game like a champ. And oh yea video chat anywhere on 4G without the need for wi fi. And with DROID branding, you can count on this being Verizon’s flagship Android phone.

The Motorola Droid X2. Though still yet to be announced, it is rumored to be just a refresh of the Original Droid X. Externally you get your familiar 4.3 inch display, and 8 megapixel camera. Internally you are given 16GB of internal memory. What sets this apart from the first Droid X is that this is going to include a 1GHZ Tegra 2 Dual Core Processor. Release date is rumored to be this Summer.

Take your mobile gaming to the next level with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. Announced at World Mobile Congress, the Xperia Play, or playstation phone, is easily the most intriguing phone in the lineup. With an expected launch this Summer, the Xperia play will bring the power of an Android smartphone, with the gaming portability of a Sony PSP.

Samsung’s venture into 4G leads us to the Stealth. Not much is official about this phone but it will bring with it a 4.3 inch Super Amoled PLUS display and will run on Verizon 4G. The following spec list is subject to change but is fairly certain to be accurate. Release is expected mid April.

The LG Revolution, yet another 4G LTE device, features a 4.3 inch screen and will allow for wireless charging. Set for a quarter 2 release it may be launched soon after the Thunderbolt which is being advertised as Verizon’s first LTE device.

If Chuck Norris had an Android phone, this would be it. The most rugged device in the lineup, the G’zOne Commando by Casio, is no toy. Water resistant and made from high-grade materials, this phone can stand up to any challenge. Spec wise, it’s not the most powerful phone, but it’s no slouch. It features a 800MHZ processor along with pre-installed applications for outdoor activities including, an earth compass and thermometer.
