The Honor 6C Pro will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, as revealed by the newly uncovered User Agent Profile (UAProf) listing from the Chinese original equipment manufacturer that’s believed to belong to the upcoming mid-ranger. The specification also suggests that the handset will boast an HD panel with a resolution of 1,280 by 720 pixels amounting to a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9. The previous addition to the series debuted with a 5-inch screen and its follow-up is likely to do the same, with its name suggesting that it will also be somewhat more powerful than the Honor 6C which featured Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 and 3GB of RAM, as well as 32GB of expandable storage space.

Honor’s next smartphone was originally sighted last week when the German and Italian divisions of Huawei’s subsidiary prematurely published its official user manual, indicating that the device will boast a somewhat conventional design with regularly sized bezels and no physical Home button, with its fingerprint recognition scanner presumably being present on the back, as was the case with the original Honor 6C which launched this spring. The same handset was also marketed as the Huawei Enjoy 6s and Huawei Nova Smart (with half the storage space and 2GB of RAM) in select markets, so it remains to be seen whether its successor also adopts multiple monikers. Compared to the older smartphone, the Honor 6C Pro will provide a notable upgrade in terms of software, with the Honor 6C having only debuted running Android 6.0 Marshmallow which was already outdated at the time of the product’s April debut.

The version of Android 7.0 Nougat that’s now expected to be pre-installed on the Honor 6C Pro will likely run Huawei’s EMUI 5 on top of it, though subsequent OS upgrades aren’t a guarantee, especially as this device will presumably compete in the lower mid-range market segment and be priced in an extremely aggressive manner leading to thin profit margins that make extensive software support somewhat unlikely. Honor is rumored to officially launch the 6C Pro tomorrow alongside the Honor 7X, five days before its parent is set to introduce its new Android flagship series entailing the Mate 10, Mate 10 Lite, Mate 10 Pro, and possibly even the Mate 10 Plus.
