Verizon Wireless is launching a new major software update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0, bringing its OS version up to Android 7.1.1 Nougat and introducing Google’s security patch for the month of August. The tablet is making the jump from Android 6.0 Marshmallow and as a result, owners should expect a wide range of new software tools, background improvements, and various changes to the user interface.
To begin with, Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0 introduces a new battery management tool that allows users to increase their battery’s potential with new customizable presets for “medium” or “maximum” power savings. Furthermore, the new App Power Monitor detects inactive applications that still affect the battery in the background and further extends battery life by putting these types of applications to sleep. Users looking forward to improving their workflow will be able to take advantage of easier multitasking with the inclusion of a new split-screen mode, and the camera application was also enhanced with a new Effects preview screen allowing users to apply various filters to their content. The latest update is identified by the software version NMF26X.T377VVRU1CQH9 and the package is gradually being distributed to eligible devices over the air. Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0 owners can wait for the update notification to arrive or attempt to trigger the update manually from the tablet’s settings menu, but either way, it’s highly advised to download the package over a Wi-Fi network and while the device has at least 50 percent of battery charge left.

The main camera of the tablet is of the 5-megapixel variety, whereas the secondary front-facing shooter is a 2-megapixel one. The slate is powered by a non-removable 5,000mAh battery and its 8-inch TFT display clocks in at a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. Prospective buyers can still acquire the tablet from Verizon Wireless for the price of $249.99 off-contract or for $149.99 on a two-year plan, while well-qualified customers with good credit can also purchase the slate for $0 down and $10.41 per month.
