The Nokia 9 PureView has arrived in stock on Amazon UK and as noted by Nokia Power User, this is the single-SIM variant available for purchase at the cost of £549.99 ($723). For a limited time only, customers who purchase the device online through Amazon UK will be eligible to claim a pair of Nokia True Wireless Earbuds which normally cost around £115 when purchased separately.

The first penta-camera, £110 per module

The OEM introduced the industry’s first penta-camera-enabled smartphone – the Nokia 9 PureView – at Mobile World Congress last month after countless leaks and rumors paved the way for the official announcement. True to the PureView moniker, the device aims to deliver a superior camera experience compared to the average smartphone and has become the first device of its kind to sport no less than five rear-facing 12-megapixel cameras.

Two of these units are RGB modules while the remaining three are dedicated black & white sensors, but they all work together to create the final image. Each module can adjust its settings automatically and the setup is capable of mapping up to 1,200 depth layers, allowing for post-processing features such as bokeh and focus readjustment directly in the Google Photos application. The camera application offers control over ISO, shutter speed and exposure times (up to 10 seconds) as well as white balance.

The five sensors feature Zeiss optics and are coupled with a dual-LED dual-tone flash. Meanwhile, the front-facing camera has a resolution of 20-megapixels and can record 30fps videos at a resolution of 1080p.

More than a camera-phone

The Nokia 9 PureView undeniably has an impressive camera setup but as expected from a flagship phone, there are other features that come together to create a whole, and the list contains a number of other exciting features ranging from an in-display fingerprint scanner to a 3,220mAh battery supporting Quick Charge 3.0 as well as 10W wireless charging using the Qi standard.

It relies on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset paired with the Adreno 630 graphics chip and 6GB of RAM. The phone lacks a microSD card slot which is a bit of a shame given that it incentivizes mobile photography and video recording, but does have 128GB of built-in memory, which should be enough for the average user.

The flagship runs Android One based on Android 9 Pie, meaning that the software is as close to Google’s mobile OS as possible and the device should technically take advantage of timely future updates to the firmware. The P-OLED screen is HDR10 compatible and has a 5.99-inch diagonal with a resolution of 2,880 by 1,440 and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It’s protected by Gorilla Glass 5, and the device has an IP67 rating making it dust and water resistant.

Free Nokia True Wireless Earbuds are most welcomed

Worth noting is that the phone lacks a standard 3.5-millimeter headphone jack but features a USB Type-C connector and Bluetooth 5.0 LE with aptX support. Having said that, prospective buyers might want to take advantage of the limited-time offer which includes a pair of Nokia True Wireless Earbuds for free. This should make the headphone jack’s omission less troublesome, at least in theory. The offer lasts until April 18 and applies to orders dispatched by Amazon.co.uk.
