Peacock is now rolling out Profiles to its app across all of its platforms. This comes about a year after the service launched. Comcast had stated that Profiles was coming to Peacock, so it’s good to see it is finally here.
The feature is part of an app update that is currently rolling out. So far, it is available on Android, iOS and Android TV. It is likely on its way to other platforms, and coming later today. But you can create a profile on your Peacock account now for everyone that uses it.
After you have updated the Peacock app, the next time you open it, you’ll be walked through how to set up profiles. And there is support for a kids profile, which will allow you to control what content your kid is able to watch, even when you aren’t home.
Much like with Disney+, you can also choose from your favorite NBCUniversal characters, for your avatar on your profile.
How many profiles does Peacock support?
Peacock supports up to six profiles, much like many other streaming services out there. Most support either five or six. So you can set up a profile for everyone in your home, as well as your kid(s). And that way you won’t have to share the watchlist, or watch history. Which is really nice.
Peacock has come out as a pretty silent competitor in the streaming wars. Mostly because of its price – free. Peacock is doing something its competitors have not done, and that is offering a completely free tier. With Peacock, it’s free, but not all of the content is available to watch and it is of course ad-supported. Peacock Premium is $4.99 per month and unlocks all content but still ad-supported. And then there is Peacock Premium Plus for $9.99 per month which unlocks all content and is ad-free.
Comcast and Cox customers can get Premium for free, which is a really nice perk. And it’s a big reason why they have grown so much, in just a year.
