Another reputed tipster has confirmed that Samsung will bring back the physical rotating bezel with the Galaxy Watch 6 series later this year. According to Ice Universe, the iconic bezel ring will exist on the “top model” of the upcoming Samsung smartwatch. Rumors are that it will arrive as the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. The watch will also feature a ” rather narrow bezel.”

Galaxy Watch 6 Classic with a rotating bezel seems to be happening

Samsung’s smartwatches have featured a physical rotating bezel since the “Gear” days. The company re-branded the wearable lineup to “Galaxy” in 2018 and kept the bezel ring intact. It launched a couple of Active-series models without it in 2019, but the signatory rotating bezel returned the following year.

In 2021, Samsung made another major change in its smartwatch strategy. It switched from the in-house Tizen platform to Google’s WearOS. However, the bezel ring wasn’t going anywhere. The company the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic in two sizes each, with the Classic model keeping the rotating bezel.

But in 2022, Samsung disappointed a few Galaxy fans by removing the iconic bezel ring on top. It launched the Galaxy Watch 5 in two sizes and a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro last year but none featured a physical bezel. Instead, the company prioritized a larger battery. It equipped the Pro model with a massive 590mAh battery pack.

Turns out it wasn’t a permanent change. This year’s Galaxy Watch 6 series will come in a similar configuration as Samsung’s 2021 smartwatches. We will get a vanilla model without a physical bezel and a Classic model with a bezel ring. Both options will be available in two sizes. The upcoming watches even share the codename with the 2021 models. Samsung is internally calling them Fresh6 and Wise6, respectively. The respective codenames for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic were Fresh and Wise.

The new Samsung smartwatches will bring plenty of upgrades

Along with bringing back the bezel ring, Samsung is also making the screens bigger and sharper with the Galaxy Watch 6 series. The company has cut the bezels around the display to make screens bigger and also upped the resolution. Moreover, we are expecting bigger batteries and a new and improved processor as well. The Galaxy Watch 6’s Exynos W980 is reportedly ten percent faster than Galaxy Watch 5 and 4’s Exynos W920. Overall, the 2023 Samsung smartwatches will bring plenty of upgrades to the table. Stay tuned for the official launch in a few months.
