Samsung‘s next Galaxy Unpacked event is just over a month away. The company will launch a bunch of new Galaxy products at the upcoming event in late July. Ahead of that, the company is busy picking up necessary regulatory approvals for the new devices. The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which is part of this bunch, has just received the NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission) certification in Thailand.

The Thai regulatory body has listed the device with the model number SM-R955F (via). That’s the global version of the 42mm Galaxy Watch 6 Classic with cellular connectivity. The documents uploaded on the website confirm the name of the product along with LTE connectivity. The same watch will also come in a Bluetooth version, bearing the model number SM-R950F. The 46mm model, meanwhile, bears model numbers SM-R960F (Bluetooth) and SM-965F (LTE).

The Galaxy Watch 6 series will bring a few notable upgrades

This certification listing doesn’t reveal anything else about the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. But there have been plenty of leaks and rumors about the device in the past, so we already know quite a lot about it. The new watch will bring back Samsung’s signatory physical rotating bezel after the company decided to omit it from the Galaxy Watch 5 series last year. There will also be a vanilla Galaxy Watch 6 without the bezel ring, though. It will come in 40mm (SM-R930 and SM-R935) and 42mm (SM-R940 and SM-R945) sizes.

Like last year, Samsung will ship the new smartwatches with 10W of maximum wireless charging speed. However, the company is marginally increasing the battery capacity of the new watches. Rumors are that the 40mm and 42mm models will feature a 300mAh battery (up from 284mAh), while the 44mm and 46mm models get a 425mAh battery (up from 410mAh). The Galaxy Watch 6 series is also getting an improved Exynos W930 chip. It might help further increase the battery life of the new wrist wearables.

In terms of looks, there isn’t much Samsung could change. But it has reportedly managed to shrink the bezel a bit, giving the watches a more premium look. An unchanged size with slimmer bezels means the Galaxy Watch 6 series features slightly bigger screens, and sharper too. The new watches should also bring software improvements thanks to Wear OS 4-based One UI Watch 5. Wear OS 4 itself is based on Android 13, a jump from Android 11 for Wear OS 3. Samsung may offer more advanced health features with the Galaxy Watch 6 series. Stay tuned for the official launch next month.
