Samsung is rolling out a new update to the Galaxy Watch 6 series. It brings the Workout Tracker feature, adding the ability to see your workout data from the watch on a TV. The update is currently available in South Korea but should soon reach other markets.

Galaxy Watch 6 gets TV Workout Tracker with a new update

Workout Tracker is a new feature Samsung introduced to its 2024 TVs and other Tizen OS-powered devices, including smart monitors. It allows you to view workout data from your watch on a big screen. Everything from your heart rate to workout duration is available on the TV or monitor in front of you. This eliminates the need to scroll through the data on your watch’s tiny screen.

The workout data is displayed on top of any video that you were already watching on the TV. While you can pause the video, this flexibility ensures that you can continue watching a workout video while simultaneously checking out the stats. Note that you must pair your Galaxy Watch 6 with a Samsung TV launched in 2024 to use this feature. Both devices should be signed in with the same Samsung Account.

Besides Workout Tracker, the latest update for the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic brings improvements to the touch screen panel (TSP). Samsung doesn’t specify what improvements it has pushed. The official release notes say the TSP has been updated to the latest firmware version. The update also contains system stability improvements for the new watches.

On top of this, the Galaxy Watch 6 lineup is picking up the March 2024 security patch. It is only the second Samsung product to receive the latest security patch, after the Galaxy S24 series. The company will soon push the new release to other models, including the Galaxy S23 series. It contains several dozen vulnerability patches for Samsung’s Android-powered Galaxy phones and tablets.

The update should soon roll out globally

This update for the Galaxy Watch 6 series should soon roll out globally, including in the US. In Samsung’s homeland, i.e., South Korea, the update comes with the firmware build number ending in AXB7 and has a download size of around 285MB for the base model. The build number and file size may vary depending on the market and model but the changelog should remain the same. You can check for updates from the Settings app on your watch or the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone.
