Samsung is all set to host its next Unpacked event on July 10. At the event, the company is rumored to introduce its next-gen foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. Alongside the new flagship phones, the South Korean tech giant is also expected to introduce a handful of wearable devices. These are expected to be the new Galaxy smartwatches and earbuds.
While Samsung is yet to confirm anything, the rumor mill indicates that the brand will launch the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch FE as its next-gen smartwatches at the upcoming Unpacked event. Now, before an official announcement, the alleged Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch FE are certified by the FCC.
Multiple Galaxy Watch 7 variants have visited the FCC certification portal
Folks over at Droidlife have spotted FCC certifications for SM-L300, SM-L305, SM-L310, SM-L315, and SM-R861 devices. These model numbers are believed to be for the Galaxy Watch 7 (Bluetooth), Watch 7 (LTE), and the Galaxy Watch FE smartwatches. While the Galaxy Watch 7 series will have premium devices, the Watch FE will be an affordable smartwatch from the brand.
It’s worth mentioning that the Galaxy Watch 6 was certified by the FCC in June last year before the official launch in July. Now, the newly surfaced FCC certifications suggest that the Galaxy Watch 7 series and Watch FE’s launch is imminent. We should have more details in the coming days, so watch this space for regular updates.
The Galaxy Watch 7 could arrive in three variants with Samsung’s first 3nm Exynos W1000 chip
According to recent reports, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 could launch in as many as three variants. These are expected to be called the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch 7 Pro, and a high-end Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra. All these variants are said to be available in Wi-Fi only and eSIM variants. We already spotted the test software builds for the Galaxy Watch Ultra a few weeks ago.
Furthermore, the rumors suggest that the Galaxy Watch 7 will be the company’s first product to utilize a 3nm chipset. The wearable is expected to be powered by Samsung’s first 3nm chip called the Exynos W1000. The processor will be built on the brand’s second-gen 3nm process node. It is the most advanced tech available in the semiconductor industry at the moment.
The reports suggest the new 3nm chipset will offer over 20 percent faster performance and power efficiency than Watch 6. The new Galaxy Watch would likely overtake the Apple Watch Series 9, which utilizes a 5nm chipset. Unfortunately, not many details about the affordable Galaxy Watch FE model are available yet.
