It’s been rumored that Google’s Pixel Watch 3 would come in two sizes and be called “Pixel Watch 3” and “Pixel Watch 3 XL”. Well, thanks to our source we can confirm that it will not be called “Pixel Watch 3 XL”. Instead, Google is sticking with a similar naming scheme that Samsung and Apple use for their watches. It will simply be called “Pixel Watch 3”. To differentiate the sizes, that will be listed in parenthesis next to the name.
So speaking of sizes, we can also confirm that the Pixel Watch 3 will be available in 41mm and 45mm. Those are the same case sizes as the Apple Watch Series 9, and slightly larger than the Galaxy Watch 7 (which is 40mm and 44mm).
Google says the Pixel Watch 3 is “designed for performance”
After the first few generations of Pixel Watch, it’s good to see Google focusing on performance this year. The two biggest complaints with the older versions were how slow it was and how bad the battery life was. Both seem to be addressed somewhat here.
Google still claims that the Pixel Watch 3 will deliver 24-hour battery life, however that is with always-on display being turned on. Or you can get up to 36 hours in Battery Saver without compromising health, fitness or safety capabilities.
While our source was unable to share what processor is inside the Pixel Watch 3, we do know that the watch was designed for performance inside and out. It also offers a new Actua Display which can get up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness. That puts it right on par with the Apple Watch Series 9, which can get up to 2,000 nits, as well as the Galaxy Watch 7. But below the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Ultra, which have an incredible 3,000 nits.
The display also sports 16% smaller bezels, giving you more screen space than ever before, especially when considering the 45mm model. While the Pixel Watch 3 can get incredibly bright, it can also dim down to as low as one nit, so you can still see your watch in dark environments like a movie theater.
