    Great podcasts deserve great marketing. The key to a great marketing campaign is clear and effective messaging. To comply with Apple requirements and receive the greatest benefit from your communications, follow these guidelines when promoting Apple Podcasts in marketing communications, including advertising, social media, websites, and printed promotions.

    1.1 Badge Artwork

    Use only the badge artwork provided by Apple. Never create your own Apple Podcasts badge or change the artwork in any way.

    If you create marketing material for the web or onscreen communications, use the high-resolution scalable artwork in SVG format. For printed material, use the badge artwork in EPS format in the color profile (CMYK or RGB) that matches the color profile of your print production mechanical.

    1.2 Localized Badges

    Apple offers the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge artwork with the words Listen on translated into many languages. The trademark Apple Podcasts always appears in English. Never translate the words Apple Podcasts. Do not create your own translated or localized badge.

    1.3 Badge Placement

    Use only one Listen on Apple Podcasts badge. Place the badge below or to the right of the images and copy promoting your content. Keep the badge smaller than the other images and main message. Don’t make it the dominant artwork.

    If you include the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge along with badges for other services, place the Apple Podcasts badge first in the lineup of badges.

    Do not display the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge and the Apple Podcasts icon together.

    1.4 Minimum Clear Space

    Follow these guidelines for print and digital material: Minimum clear space around the badge should be at least one-tenth the height of the badge. Don’t place photos, typography, or other graphic elements inside the minimum clear space area. Allow more space whenever possible.

    1.5 Minimum Size

    Minimum badge size is 8 mm for printed materials and 30 pixels for digital use. Don’t make the badge the dominant graphic. The small badge should be 12 pixels high or larger.

    On Mobile Devices

    If you have advertising with very limited layout space, such as banners for mobile devices, use a badge size that’s clearly readable on these devices. Minimum clear space around the badge should be at least one-tenth the height of the badge.

    1.6 Backgrounds

    Do not alter the Apple-provided badge artwork in any way. The gray border around the badge is part of the badge artwork and must not be left out.

    You can place the badge on these backgrounds:

    • Black or white background
    • Solid-color background
    • Background image that doesn’t affect the readability of the badge
    1.7 Avoid Mistakes

    Avoid mistakes. Use the artwork exactly as provided by Apple.

    • Do not eliminate the Listen on call-to-action message.
    • Do not modify, angle, animate, rotate, or tilt the badge.
    • Do not apply special effects such as shadows or glows to the badge.
    • Do not alter the artwork in any way.
    • Do not use icons, logos, or graphics from the Apple website or from Apple apps.
    • Do not imitate Apple communications.
    • Do not use the Apple logo alone.
    Listen on Apple Podcasts Lockup

    The Listen on Apple Podcasts lockup is a combination of the Apple Podcasts icon with the message Listen on Apple Podcasts set in specially designed type.The lockup does not contain a border, and the elements are not combined in a shape. Use only lockup artwork provided by Apple and do not alter the artwork in any way.

    Use the Listen on Apple Podcasts lockup when linking to episodes, shows, or channels on Apple Podcasts.

    A lockup can be used in all marketing communications promoting podcast content on Apple  Podcasts. If badges from other podcasts services appear on your communication, do not use a lockup. Instead, use the appropriate Apple Podcasts badge.

    The Listen on Apple Podcasts is designed for greater graphic versatility and can be used on layouts where the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge is either crowded by limited layout space or appears visually heavy in the layout. The Listen on Apple Podcasts lockup is especially suited to banner ads, print ads, and other forms of advertising. Whenever a lockup is used online, you must include a link to Apple Podcasts.

    The Listen on Apple Podcasts lockup is a promise to your audience of a high-quality listening experience. Follow these guidelines to make sure you’re using the Apple Podcasts lockup correctly. Marketing materials don’t usually require approval by Apple, but there are a few exceptions. Written approval from Apple is required for materials used in:

    • TV or print media
    • Any marketing format with high visibility
    • Custom photography or video in which Apple products appear

    Be sure to allow at least seven business days for review and approval. See the Apple Approvals section for details.

    2.1 Lockup Artwork

    Use only the lockup artwork provided by Apple. Do not change the Apple-provided artwork in any way. Never build your own Apple Podcasts lockup. Do not revise the Listen on message.

    If you create marketing material for the web or onscreen communications, use the high-resolution scalable artwork in SVG format. For printed material, use the lockup artwork in EPS format in the color profile (CMYK or RGB) that matches the color profile of your print production mechanical.

    2.2 Localized Lockups

    Apple offers the Listen on Apple Podcasts lockup artwork translated into many languages. Only use the localized versions of Apple Podcasts as shown in the badges and lockups. Do not create your own translated or localized badge.

    2.3 Using the Lockup

    Follow these requirements for using Apple Podcasts lockup.

    • Use only one Apple Podcasts lockup.
    • A lockup cannot be combined with a Listen on Apple Podcasts badge. Use either a lockup or a badge, not both.
    • Place the lockup below or to the right of the images and copy promoting your content. Keep the lockup smaller than the other images and main message.
    • Do not use an Apple Podcasts lockup along with badges for other podcast services. Instead, use the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge and place the badge first in the lineup of badges.
    • The option with color is preferred; however, you can select the color option that best suits your layout.
    2.4 Minimum Clear Space

    • A clean and uncluttered background that does not affect the readability of the type or clarity of the Listen on Apple Podcasts Lockup
    2.7 Avoid Mistakes

    Avoid mistakes. Use artwork exactly as provided by Apple.

    • Do not use the lockup on a busy, patterned, or cluttered background. Instead, consider using the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge.
    • Do not eliminate the Listen on call-to-action message.
    • Do not modify, angle, animate, rotate, or tilt the lockup.
    • Do not change the font.
    • Do not change the color of the type.
    • Do not apply special effects such as shadows or glows to a lockup.
    • Do not replace the icon with the Apple logo.
    • Do not use the Apple logo alone.
    • Do not use icons, logos, or graphics from the Apple website or from Apple apps.
    Apple Podcasts Icon

    Use the Apple Podcasts icon only when displaying an array of icons with similar shape and size. Do not use the Apple Podcasts icon instead of the Apple Podcasts badge in marketing communications, even if layout space is limited.

    Only the versions of the Apple Podcasts icon shown here are approved by Apple for display alongside icons that are a similar shape and size.

    Linking to Your Podcast from the Toolbox

    You can create links for Apple Podcasts by using our Apple Podcasts Toolbox. You can also find embeddable widgets for shows and episodes in the Toolbox. It's everything you need to link to Apple Podcasts, all in one convenient and easy-to-use place.

    4.1 Linking to Your Podcast
    1. Open Apple Podcasts on a supported device (iOS 8 and newer or macOS Catalina and newer).
    2. Open the show, episode, or channel you want to share.
    3. Tap the three dots “…”
    4. Tap Copy Link.
    5. Paste the copied link into your communication.
    Messaging and Style

    The key to a great marketing campaign is clear and effective messaging. Here are some tips to keep in mind when you promote your podcast:

    • Make sure your podcast is the focus of your message.
    • Clearly communicate what your show is about and the benefits it provides potential listeners.
    • Provide the direct link to your show on Apple Podcasts to make it easy to find and listen.
    • Refer to Apple products and use phrases such as listen on Apple Podcasts so users know how to listen.
    5.1 Suggested Messaging
    • Listen to <Podcast Show or Channel Name> on Apple Podcasts.
    • If you love the show, share it with a friend on Apple Podcasts.
    • Never miss an episode. Follow on Apple Podcasts to get new episodes as they become available.
    • Start a free trial of < Podcast Show or Channel Name > on Apple Podcasts.
    • Find all of our shows in < Channel Name > channel on Apple Podcasts.
    • Subscribe to < Podcast Show or Channel Name > on Apple Podcasts, and unlock benefit: < ad-free listening, bonus content, the archive, early access, etc. >
    5.2 Spelling and language

    Always use the correct Apple product names with the correct capitalization as shown on the Apple Trademark List.

    5.3 Creating Links to Apple Products

    Instructions for creating links to podcasts on Apple Podcasts can be found under the Linking to Your Content section.

    5.4 Definitions
    • Apple Podcasts:
      • App: The app that customers use to discover, stream, download, follow, subscribe to, and listen to podcasts. Apple Podcasts is available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch with AirPods, Apple TV, HomePod, CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and other smart speakers and car systems.
      • Directory: Also refers to the directory or catalog for podcasts. Apple Podcasts is home to millions of shows, which creators submit to be included for discovery. By default, Apple Podcasts makes the shows included within the directory available to third party apps and services.
    • Note: Apple Podcasts is always plural and we encourage you to say listen/follow/subscribe “on” Apple Podcasts. Apple Music is the app customers use for music content and iTunes was the previous app for podcasts on Apple devices.
    • Podcast: Refers to the content type.
    • Episode: Refers to a single file within a Podcast.
    • Channel: Refers to a group of shows.
    • Show: Refers to a collection of podcast episodes.
    • Trailer: Refers to a promotional episode for the show.
    • Bonus: Refers to an extra podcast episode, whether free or subscriber-only.
    • Follow: Listeners can follow a podcast to automatically download and receive notifications for new episodes. Followed podcasts also appear in the Listen Now and Library tabs.
    • Subscribe: Listeners can purchase subscriptions to unlock premium benefits.
    • Subscribers: Listeners who purchased a subscription to a paid show or channel.
    • Apple Podcasts Subscriptions: The name of the feature that allows podcasters to monetize their podcasts by offering premium audio experiences to their listeners.
    • Subscriber Show: A podcast that offers premium benefits for a single show.
    • Subscriber Channel: A channel that offers premium benefits for a collection of podcasts.
    • Subscription Benefits:
      • Ad-free listening. Let subscribers focus on the story.
      • Additional episodes. Give subscribers more to love with extra episodes.
      • Early access. Offer subscribers new episodes before everyone else.
      • Subscriber-only shows. Give subscribers shows that are only available to them.
      • Archive access. Unlock access to all the past episodes.
    • Apple Podcasters Program: The name of the program that podcasters are required to join in order to offer subscriptions on Apple Podcasts.
    • Apple Podcasts Connect: The Apple dashboard podcasters use to monitor their shows, view Apple Podcasts analytics and more.
    5.5 Using Apple Podcasts in Marketing Copy
    Typesetting

    When using the name Podcasts or Apple Podcasts in headlines or copy, always typeset Apple Podcasts with an uppercase A and an uppercase P followed by lowercase letters. Apple Podcasts is set as two words. Apple Podcasts is plural.

    If a headline is typeset all uppercase, the words Apple Podcasts within the headline can also be set all uppercase.


    Language

    Always say on Apple Podcasts. Do not use from, at, or in.

    Do not make Apple Podcasts possessive. Do not say Apple Podcasts’. Modifiers such as episodes, shows, or channels can be plural or possessive.

    Avoid redundancy when crafting a message.

    Correct Listen to episodes on Apple Podcasts. Incorrect Listen to Apple Podcasts podcasts. Listen exclusively only on Apple Podcasts.

    When describing how to access Apple Podcasts, refer to Apple Podcasts or the Podcasts app from Apple on the first mention. In subsequent references, just Podcasts can be used.

    Correct Access Apple Podcasts in the Podcast app on your iPhone or on your Mac. Incorrect Access Podcasts on your iPhone.

    Do not use superlatives to describe Apple Podcasts.

    Correct Listen to <Podcast Name> on Apple Podcasts. Incorrect Listen to <Podcast Name> on the amazing new Apple Podcasts.

    Referring to Apple

    Always use the complete name Apple Podcasts. Don’t use Apple alone.

    Correct Listen to new <Podcast Name> on Apple Podcasts. Incorrect Listen to <Podcast Show or Episode Name> from Apple.

    Do not indicate any kind of sponsorship or endorsement by Apple. Do not imitate Apple communications. Do not use product images or headlines and copy from www.apple.com.

    5.6 Using Apple Product Names

    Follow these guidelines when using Apple product names. Your marketing message should focus on your content, not on Apple.

    Use Apple product names such as Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, CarPlay, HomePod, and Mac to indicate that your podcast or content can be enjoyed on these devices. Do not list Apple products that aren’t supported.

    Always use the correct Apple product names with proper capitalization: iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Don’t use variations such as touch or iTouch.

    The product names iPhone, iPad, and iPod are always typeset with a lowercase i and an uppercase P followed by lowercase letters, even when those names come first in a sentence, paragraph, or title. The word touch in iPod touch is always typeset with a lowercase t.

    Always use Apple product names such as Apple Watch, iPhone, and iPad in singular form. Never make Apple product names plural. Instead, use modifiers in plural form, such as Apple Watch collections or iPhone models.

    Do not translate Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or any other Apple trademark. Always set Apple trademarks in English, even when they appear in copy in a language other than English.

    Do not refer to Apple devices using generic terms such as smartphones or tablets. Use the specific Apple product names.

    Do not imply that your podcast is sponsored or endorsed by Apple.

    You must attribute trademarks and use the correct credit line for every Apple trademark used in your communication. See the Apple Legal Requirements section.

    5.7 Graphics

    Do not create graphics, illustrations, or logotypes to represent Apple Podcasts. If Apple provides you with graphic assets or a layout template, do not alter the Apple Podcasts identity graphics in any way. Use only the artwork provided by Apple.

    Do not imitate Apple communications. Do not use copy, graphics, type, or layouts from www.apple.com. Your layout should reflect the look and feel of your brand.

    Apple Logo

    In marketing headlines and copy, never replace the name Apple with the Apple logo. Spell out the full name Apple Podcasts.

    5.8 Legal Notifications

    Provide appropriate credit attribution for Apple trademarks and use appropriate trademark symbols in your communications as described in the Apple Legal Requirements section.

    Apple Approval

    As stated previously, most marketing materials don’t require approval by Apple. However, we require that you obtain written approval from Apple for any material created for:

    • TV or print media
    • Any high-visibility marketing format
    • Custom photography or video in which Apple products appear

    Be sure to allow at least seven business days for review and approval.

    6.1 Submission Requirements

    Send your materials to our support helpdesk. At least seven working days are required to review your material. Make sure you include:

    • Contact details with a phone number
    • Apple ID or Apple Podcasts URL for your podcast
    • Podcast Title
    • Provider
    • Host Names
    6.2 Submission Instructions
    • If your material is less than 20 MB in size, attach it to the support request. Anything larger than 20 MB should be provided by FTP server or another web-delivery service. Don’t forget to include the link or the username and password for the FTP server in your support request.
    • All support requests should be in English.
    • Include an English translation of your materials, if necessary.
    • Give us at least seven business days for a response.
    • If we don’t respond within seven days, it doesn’t mean that the content has been approved.
    • We can review materials that are in progress. However, all final materials must be approved before publication.
    • Send your content in a standard format, such as PDF or JPG for images and MP4 for videos.
    • Make sure to submit only high-quality copy and images for review.
    Apple Legal Requirements
    7.1 Do Not Mislead

    Never use Apple Podcasts badges, lockups, and icons (or any other Apple trademarks) in a manner that is likely to be misleading or confusing about what content is available on Apple Podcasts.

    7.2 Credit Lines

    Use the appropriate credit lines in all communications worldwide. List only the Apple trademarks actually used in your materials.

    When using the name Apple Podcasts in communications, include this credit line wherever legal copy is shown.

    Apple and Apple Podcasts are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries

    Place the credit lines wherever you provide legal notification. Follow standard practices for the placement of legal copy, such as creating additional screens or providing interactive links. Include the credit lines only once on your communication or website.

    7.3 Trademark Symbols

    In communications distributed only in the United States, the appropriate symbol (™, SM, or ®) must follow each Apple trademark the first time it is mentioned in body copy.

    For example: iPhone®, iPad® and iPod touch®

    • Don‘t add a symbol to the Apple Podcasts badge artwork provided by Apple.
    • Don‘t add symbols to headline copy.

    For communications developed for mobile devices, follow standard practices for the placement of legal copy, such as creating additional screens or providing interactive links to legal copy.

    For the correct trademark symbols, refer to the Apple Trademark List.

    7.4 Association with Apple

    Your images including your content within iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple TV product images, or photographs thereof cannot be used in any manner that falsely suggests an association with Apple or is likely to reduce, diminish, or damage the goodwill, value, or reputation associated with Apple Podcasts, iTunes, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV or Apple itself.

    7.5 Translations

    With Apple’s approval, a translation of the legal notice and credit lines (but not the trademarks) can be used in materials distributed outside the U.S. Never translate an Apple trademark.
