Le Dune Sicily Hotel is only 2 km away from the city centre of Catania. It lies in an enchanting place between the golden sand of "de La Plaia" beach and a beautiful small Maritime pine forest. Thanks to all stuff, all of them are very kind.
Sadly exactly lived up to the reputation of Sicily. Controlled by corrupt businesses. Local govt does very little for people in catania. Fly in there if you must but Do NOT stay there. Move on immediately.
Catania is a very lively and charming city, with lots of attractions and a wide variety of activities. The cuisine is awesome, as everywhere in Sicily. Be prepared for some crumbling buildings, a bit of chaos and some dark facades. The first is due to the abundance of monuments paired with lack of funds to keep it all going, the chaos is a natural state here, and many of the buildings use lava stone for material, which is the obvious choice, given the nearby volcano. You won't necessarily fall in love with the graffitti at first sight, however, the city is full of treasures of all sorts. For culture lovers, it offers great experiences, and of course the location with the Etna backdrop makes the sight dramatic and the landscape ever-changing. The proximity of a live volcano makes your stay here feel really spicy. There are endless cafes, great restaurants, monuments to suit all tastes, and outdoor activities at your doorstep. The airport is a very easy ride from downtown.
It's a great place with warm weather, many antique ruins and churches, a great atmosphere, and lovely markets and restaurants. For one from a bigger city, everything is within walking distance, but there are several buses. It is worth making a trip to Siracusa and Taormina for at least a day.
I have been to Catania several times. Ii is a compact attractive city with notable fish and central market, passegiata on Via Etnea and plenty of places to eat. You can easily visit Etna,Taormina, Noto, Syracusa and Ragusa etc.
Catania was a great city to visit. The volcano was excellent but this time visiting we couldn’t go up to the summit because of the smoke from the volcano and they’re warning it could’ve rocked again which it did the next morning and spilling lava so overall I enjoyed my stay
Some lovely buildings & piazzas. Good value. Recommend a trip up to Etna & out to some of the smaller surrounding towns. Huge choice of restaurants. The bad side is that a lot of the town is filthy - the level of litter is atrocious.
