This is very close to the airport (if you have a rental car) and is tucked away in a valley all by itself. We had room 7 facing the forest and we really enjoyed our stay. We found the owner to very friendly and we were able to have some good times there chatting with her. This is a simple husband and wife business and is not high end. The onsen is hot, which is great. There’s only about 10 cabins which is nice. It was very peaceful. We used this as a launch pad to other places and onsens in the kirishima area too.

Beds are comfy and water pressure is very good and Haruka makes delicious food even had soy milk for our coffee and really thought of everything for us. Her English is good and you can feel at ease at Boss's House. Her dad is very nice and even played us some traditional Okinawa music. If you want a real Japanese host experience we can not recommend it highly enough. Just understand this is home in the middle of quiet street nothing is walkable so we had haruka pick us up and drop us off at airport which was seemless experience but does cost extra but it is totally worth it as taxis can be difficult to find or guide to this location. Haruka communication with us before our trip was above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We loved our stay on our way to Yakushima Island as a one night layover.

The home stay is quite far away from things, but this will enhance the feeling that you are living like a local Japanese. Especially when you sit outside to enjoy the foot bath in the evening while maybe enjoying a shochu or two. Yuki is extremely kind and generous and a delight to talk too. Excellent experience overall. A small note: it is a small home stay, so be careful not to experience a hotel-like service and environment.
