The California Academy of Sciences, based in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, is home to an aquarium, planetarium, rainforest, and natural history museum–all under one living roof! Inside one of the greenest museums in the world, visitors can find captivating experiences including nearly 60,000 live animals, with new exhibits added every year. While guests are no longer required to provide proof of full vaccination or a recent negative test, we still strongly encourage all guests to stay up-to-date on their vaccinations and to mask up indoors.
Children aged 0-2 years can join for free and no ticket or booking is needed.
The usual opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 09:30–17:00 and Sunday from 11:00–17:00. Please note that these timings are subject to change.
Your ticket provides you entrance to all shows and exhibits. You must be 18 years or older, or be accompanied by an adult, to book.
To reserve showtime for the planetarium, you will need to scan the QR code posted in the lobby with your mobile phone as soon as you arrive. Planetarium passes are free and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that the planetarium has limited capacity and shows may not be appropriate for children under seven (minimum age is four years).
