As the world’s largest diamond-cutting city, Antwerp (Anvers in French) is naturally affluent. It comes as no surprise then that fashion is also of utmost importance, so the shopping here is excellent. It may not be the cheapest place, but the quality certainly matches the price.
Another big business in Antwerp is the port, one of Europe’s largest. Take a cruise around to admire its scale. The Scheldt River leads from the port into the city, and on its banks are a handful of interesting museums and Het Steen, a medieval castle built to protect the city against Viking invasions.
A few streets back is the Grote Markt, a beautiful square flanked by the grand town hall and 16th-century guildhouses – a typically Belgian scene. Behind this is UNESCO World Heritage-listed Antwerp Cathedral, whose asymmetrical towers look down over Groenplaats, a tranquil square filled with pavement cafes. Belgian beer is legendary and the local brew is De Koninck, which packs quite a punch.
In the south of the city is the most unusual sight – Wilrijk’s huge Jain Temple, one of the largest outside India. A little further east is Antwerp Airport, efficiently connected by public transport to the Antwerp hotels, guest houses and apartments that are available on Booking.com.
What a fantastic city for exploring by foot.
There are so many great attractions: Chocolate Nation being one of our favorites. Visit The Beguinage, Our lady Cathedral, Christmas markets, Saint Anna Tunnel & Wooden Escalator. Premiere shopping up and down the main streets. DIAMONDS everywhere! The food scene is far above what we have experienced in much of Europe, absolutely delicious! Be sure to hit up: Takumi Ramen, Wasbar and Taqueria Rico!!

Easily walkable to places of interest.
Easily walkable to places of interest. Good transport system too. We went during December, so it was very pretty with lights and the Christmas markets.
Food is good, look for traditional bars that sell every Belgium beer and try the tasting menus!

I has so much to offer a tourist, take the walking tour, visit the cathedral
and experience the shops, from chocolates to french fries, there are underground caverns to explore, see the butchers guild house built like a church.
There are the gardens out side the main line station, the station, which its self is a masterpiece of architecture.
Again the Opera house is worth a visit if performances are being held.

I have been to the city of Antwerp on a few occasions and I would recommend it for a short trip on it's own or combined with another city. The city centre has interesting architecture of different styles as well as some good museums and a cathedral and travel is easy with a good tram, bus and Metro systems. The centre also has a good range of bars and restaurants available. I would certainly recommend a visit to Antwerp at anytime of the year.

Antwerp is on the rise.
Antwerp is on the rise. For an ancient city that has gone through so many changes, they are making more. We saw lots of construction at older sites, improving them for new uses. I think people have forgotten what a unique city this is. We added it to our itinerary that included stops in Amsterdam and Bruges.

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Antwerp
Our visit was brief and the hotel chosen was all about location - easy walking distance too the train station . Reception was prompt and efficient but the on line check in facility had not been working the prior day when I tried a number of times from the UK which curtailed our time in Antwerp as there had also been a 2 hour delay on our Eurostar journey and a missed connection in Brussels . We left for Amsterdam before breakfast the following morning so didnt see what the restaurant was like .
It is a hotel very convenienty located betwen Central Station and the old part of Antwerp, easy to find. Nice lobby, welcoming staff. The rooms design is all right, beds are comfortable. Free coffee/tea and water in the room. It was really quiet in the night, despite the windows facing the main street. Acceptable price.
Excellent location. The hotel is in front of Antwerp central station. Walking distance to old town. Short train ride to Ghent. Good breakfast. Our room was large, comfortable bed. Very clean, and very quiet. The air conditioner was working very well which does not happen very often in Europe.
- The hotel is suitable for visiting Antwerp for 1-2 nights
- Particularly convenient in this regard is the location near the station (5 minutes on foot) and the opportunity to wait for the train in an excellent lobby bar
- Good renovation (although sometimes it could be cleaned better)
