This property boasts a real swiss atmosphere, from the cozy rooms to the excellent dining experience, you’re guaranteed to have a memorable experience.
The staff in the hotel and restaurant are some of the most hospitable individuals I’ve had the pleasure to meet on my travels in Switzerland and they made sure my stay was both comfortable and stress free.
If you have not planned to do so, I can wholeheartedly recommend having lunch in their restaurant - they serve some very tasty dishes from reasonable prices, I can assure you they will have you full and ready to hit the slopes, or the party if you’re like me.
I plan to stay again sometime in the future and would be happy recommend to any of my friends.

Great location. Staff told us about the stagecoach coming through town to travel over the St Gotthard pass. We watched them arrive and depart. The passengers had a coffee break at the River House. Great bonus!

We visited Andermatt at the very end of the summer season, in September. It was wonderful!!! No crowds anywhere but warm sunshine and cool clear air everywhere. We did excursions to the Furka Pass and up to the summit of the Gutsch mountain and the mountain beauty was staggering. There is also a lovely, mostly flat streamside foot trail up the valley for several miles, and we enjoyed walking amidst the cows......

Andermatt is a cosy little ski town that is far from the party vibe of somewhere like Verbier. The benefit of that is it's not as busy and the prices are a little more "affordable" shall we say (keeping in mind it's still Switzerland!). While it feels much smaller its very easy to get to by train - the journey there is breathtaking! The little train that takes you directly from mid-mountain to the other resorts close by is brilliant as well. Only thing missing might be a bit more of an après-scene on the mountain I would say (if you're into that). Also should be noted they are building a huge new village next to the old village which will be awesome when it's complete. But until that point there are a few cranes and some drilling noises that may bother some people (didn't bother us!).

Andermatt is a lovely town that includes an exceptional ski resort. The town itself has several lovely restaurants, pubs, wine bars, coffee shops. There is a small, but well stocked grocery store as well. The locals were very kind. Felt very safe. Family friendly.

For the two days I was there, I loved Andermatt.
For the two days I was there, I loved Andermatt. It has a spectacular setting amongst stunning mountain scenery. I stayed in a lovely guesthouse (Zum Sternen) in the picturesque village centre with a beautiful Chapel just above the square and typical mountain river flowing nearby. Full of colour with local and Swiss national flags flying, and beautiful wooden buildings. I will definitely come again...and again.....

Andermatt is a small alpine village, ideally located for the Gotthard Pass, Furka Pass and Oberalp Pass. The village is flat and easy to get around by foot, bike or car. Excellent train connections including the Glacier Express. Plenty of bars and restaurants. Ideal for cycling and trail running.

Andermatt is a beautiful little town with all the amenities you really need. A well-stocked grocery store and numerous shops, easy train and bus access, a free ski shuttle, rental shops for outdoor gear, hiking and biking trails galore, and spectacular mountain views. Everything seemed to be a 15-minute walk from everywhere, which was very convenient; plus making use of the free shuttle simplified walking times (bus drivers were very friendly and willing to stop and ask if we needed a ride). Everyone spoke English well, which simplified our travel experience. Switzerland is very expensive, and Andermatt is no exception; consider checking menu prices before committing to a week spent dining in restaurants (we had an apartment and cooked more than we dined out). We did have some spectacular traditional fondue at Hotel Sonne’s restaurant (in the downtown), which was a delight.

The Italian lady that checked us in and out was lovely. Parking was available for us (once I found it, further up the road and tucked behind a restuarant), but we did get charged extra for it. Rooms clean, tidy and had what we needed. A fridge would have been handy but not essential. This was a stopover in Switzerland for our road trip, exploring the alpine passes. Ideal location, right at the bottom of the Furka Pass.
It’s the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Beautiful and cozy design, the friendliest staff clean and big rooms. Our dinner in the restaurant was fantastic the wellness area offers everything one needs to relax. We’ll definitely return some day.
