The capital of Lower Saxony, beautiful Hanover has been so thoughtfully planned that you can’t tell it was largely destroyed in World War II. The city is full of green spaces, one of which is by huge Maschsee lake where sailors and rowers share the waters with pedaloes. In winter you may be able to skate there. A smaller lake in the Maschpark closer to the centre reflects the grand New Town Hall overlooking it.
The Old Town Hall is in the Old Town where half-timbered buildings were brought from all areas of the city during rebuilding. The square behind hosts one of the Hanover Christmas markets. The others are on Kröpcke pedestrian shopping street, and in front of the station, where the city’s main shopping centre - Ernst August Gallerie – is located.
To the north are the incredible, landscaped Herrenhausen Gardens – awash with colour for much of the year. This area gives its name to the local pilsener – Herrenhäuser. Also here are colourful sculptures by Niki de Saint Phalle, whose work is also displayed in the Sprengel modern art museum.

We walked to town via a tunnel under the train tracks or the central station. We eat at Block House. The price is a little high but the quality of the food is fantastic. We stayed near the train station. Parking is only 6 euro per day. We wanted to have a little more time.

We visited the city of Hanover to see ACDC in August 2024.
We visited the city of Hanover to see ACDC in August 2024. We have previously lived in nearby Celle and have visited Hanover previously and know it very well. A great vibrant city with plenty of eating and drinking establishments. Great City, lots to do and see especially if you can find time to explore the outer districts such as Celle, Bergen/Belsen for example. Celle has a great steak restaurant called the Indian Steak House. Fantastic food situated right the heart of the town center.

Well, i have a hard time to explain to the service people in the restaurant that my food was first of all wrong order...and they did not understand that cous cous is gluten..i orded glutenfree. Second of it..the Sallad was old and brown.
Third of it .they sold beer to already very drunk people, a group of 3 very loud young men.
It happen to be that the walls in this Hotel was very thin so i overhead all noices, party and still drinking 1 floor under us.
I could not sleep, so i moved out to my car and my half of the night in there. Very unpleasant.
The beds were really hard as well in the room.
The best was breakfast service and the nice staff there.

I travel a lot to Hannover for Business and sadly the hotels are getting expensive day by day and the comfort level is not up to the mark they used to have. I decided to give a try to a private accommodation this time and i am happy that i made that choice. The apartment was big, beautiful and clean. The hosts were super polite and responsive, they even helped me with the query at 01:00 in the night. Everything from the bedroom to the bathroom was super nice and comfy. Location is also good from the central station.
Definitely recommended.
The room was perfect and so was the bathroom, couldn't fault it in any way.
Breakfast was the best ive had in Germany, so much selection, you could have been there hours going around it, so make sure you allow pently of time in the morning.
Evening meal was excellent and great beer too.
All round fantastic experience.
They also took Covid very seriously and ensured we all had 3 jabs, that was reassuring they took our wellbeing seriously.
My single room was comfortable & spacious with a large showerroom, with plently of towels. The staff were courteous, friendly and helpful, and the breakfast (buffet style) is first class in its range and quality. The hotel is only 10 minutes walk from the Hannover Hbf.
Comparing to the same H+ hotel chain in another city in Germany, this one was much much better. Nice rooms, big parking space, good breakfast options and nice environment. You also get 2 small bottles of water as a complimentary option.
