I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with some of the services we received during our recent stay at the Intercontinental Cairo City Star. There are a few matters I wish to bring to your attention.
Firstly, after we checkout on 14 November 2024, while waiting our car to the airport,
Mohammed Gamal, a staff member, accused us of breaking the clothes iron in our room. We had used the iron a few times during our stay and we very carful with it. We believe that his insistence on blaming us for the damage without considering the possibility that it could have been caused by the room cleaning staff was unjust and unprofessional.
Additionally, we were supposed to be staying in a non-smoking section. Unfortunately, seven day into our stay, we started smell smoke while we were in our room, We complained to hotel immediately, but no action was taken to address this issue. Which greatly affected our experience.
Overlooking the Nile River and just a 5-minute walk from the Egyptian Museum, the 5-star Intercontinental Cairo Semiramis features a heated outdoor pool and an on-site casino, spa and gym.

Born of an ancient civilisation, Cairo is a vast metropolis centred around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over it into Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.
The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artefacts, including finds from Tutankhamun’s tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.
East is Islamic Cairo, home to 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk – remember to haggle. The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.
If you want to step out of cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.
Before heading to your Cairo accommodation, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Turkish coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

As is common throughout Egypt, the streets are filled with people trying to scam you, and the streets are quite dirty. Despite this, everyone should experience these wonders of the world at least once. Therefore, despite all the negatives, it was an enjoyable experience.

The ancient landmarks and monuments are great.
The ancient landmarks and monuments are great. The local people are often desperate for money and may inconvenience you. I would recommend avoiding interacting with anyone who is not giving you a tour or leading an activity.

Much of Cairo’s (and the country’s) economy is based on tourism, which can be stressful for visitors, but nothing that can’t be overcome. For example, when you arrive at the airport, you may be approached by someone telling you that Uber doesn’t go to the terminal and that you should use the “official” taxi. Just ignore them and move on to discover a city that’s unique in its chaotic hustle and bustle, with the reflective pyramids on the horizon.

Busy city in need of street sweeping and cleanup.
Busy city in need of street sweeping and cleanup. So much to see and learn in Cairo/Egypt and it is all fascinating. The traffic is horrid, and scary, horns blow constantly, Our tour guides however were above and beyond furnishing information, history, and customs. The historical sights, museums, palaces, temples, etc. were so much more interesting than we expected. We were very glad to took this trip - so much information you never knew.
P.S. If any of us win the lottery, we are taking $1M to Cairo for spay and neuter clinics for all the dogs at large and care for the horses some of which don't appear well cared for,

It's a great but crowded city. There are a lot of historic sites to see. It's safe to walk around here but driving is crazy. Lots of good restaurants for Egyptian food. We recommend koshary at koshary Abou Tarek.

I will come back for sure if I visit Cairo again as it’s a real European 5 stars with Egyptian spirit.
Our stay at the Sphinx golden gate pyramids hotel exceeded our expectations, this family run hotel attended to our needs promptly, gave good advice for excursions around Egypt and all came with a good energy and vibe. A very authentic Egyptian atmosphere with great food and very friendly staff. The rooftop was exceptional, with views of the pyramids. Would definitely recommend
Excellent location, right in the middle of downtown Cairo. Close to the metro, many restaurants and Egyptian Museum. But the best part is the staff, the guys at the reception were so friendly and helpful. We were collected from the airport straight to the hotel and there were no issues at all. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was also OK.
